How Do You Build your Niche Site?

I have a niche site on a certain subject. I only have 2 post on it so far and it is #168 on google for my keyword broad match. It is #2 with quotes.

What I am doing is adding one post to my main blog, then adding 8 articles on other websites like, ezinearticles, scribd, hubpages, squidoo, wordpress.com,blogger.com and weebly, with my anchor text linking to my main site.

I submit them each to traffic-bug.com which bookmarks them, and backlinks them, and submits them to RSS feeds.

My question is should I be doing this with every blog post that I do? Or should I do less with my other post and focus on posting the most on my main blog.

Give me some advice.

My goal is to get to the top 10 in google for my keyword.

to what end? Why do you want to be in the top 10?

    To....

    Build a list?

    Sell a product?

    Adsense?

To what end? Why do you want to be on the first page?

If it's to build a list, you should already have a killer optin page.

If it's to sell a product, then you had best have the best product review page ever.

And while you are waiting for your page to get to numero uno, are you doing other things to bring in targeted traffic? PPC, emails from paid sources, article traffic, social bookmarking traffic, etc, etc.

If you are getting traffic NOW - to what end? what is the purpose?

Andswer that question now and you will start making money now.... not when you get the Holy Grail of page one.

My site is an adsense site and I hope to flip it in the future.

I have been doing social bookmarking and article marketing.

I have submitted it to traffic-bug.com for backlinking and rss feed submissions.

You are adding one post to your blog and several articles and content all on other sites.

Put that content on your site and you will start to gain better rankings. Right now you are helping those other sites with your content.

The only reason to add content to other sites would be for backlinks and traffic.

For an Adsense blog you want front page Google traffic.

You need at least 6 or 7 article length posts on your own blog before you start sending content all over the place.

For any other blog you start, get a good keyword in your url. Not longtail.
Shoot for the best keyword for your niche and then let the longtails come to you.

Pick a strong keyword in a competitive niche and get it in your url. Use it in your title...in other words, do your on site SEO.

Use a keyword tool to find the top longtail keywords from that main keyword.

Look for at the very least 7 try for 10 - 20.

Write your first post (article around 350 -400 words) using your main keyword in the title and sprinkled throughout the post (not spammed around 3 at most)
Put a picture in your post and use the alt tag with keyword.

Use your first longtail keyword as your next post. (same as above)

Do this with the rest of your longtail keywords.

Ping each post after you write them.

    Now work on backlinks.

    Get Google Analytics.

Watch what other longtail keywords people are using to find you.

Write posts using the new longtail keywords people used.

    Ping.

    Backlink.

    Get more keywords from Analytics.

    Repeat.
