Default Directory Submission question

Hi guys,

I'm just a little confused about directory submissions.

For example, I have a new site and have submitted it to the directories, do I still need to submit it (the main page) again when I add a new article (the new article's url)?

Or is directory submission just a one off thing? I mean submit the main site's url and no need to submit again even when there is new content?

Thanks for the replies,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
For a start they wont crawl your page for quite some time.

Once your website has been submitted to a directory and
eventually indexed, it will be checked for updates automatically
by the search engine.

Or the short version - Just once

Somehow I suspect if you type "best directories" into Google (or the WF search function) you might come up with something...

In fact, I just did that (to make sure) with "best directories to submit to," and the first page of Google results should keep you busy for a while ;-)

ha we all ask silly questions sometimes, no worries. I asked my wife when to start brushing the baby's teeth. He's 2 months old and has no teeth (felt a little stupid)

Hey, go easy on that head!

True, there are lots of lists on Google, but as with "best" article directories and other such lists, it's often useful to have an "edited" list where the entries are actually vouched for.

If I had had such a list, I would have posted it.

Right now I don't, but if somebody has one, please share ;-)

Since directories are a one-time deal, though, having a hand-picked list is not as crucial. Just work your way down any one of those Google-found lists and submit and you're done.

Also, much as we wish there were lists for everything, there aren't. Still looking for a nice long list of teleseminar directories/listing services. Googling that isn't much help. What comes up is article directories mentionening the word "teleseminar"!

Once again, if anyone else knows of such a list, please share it with us.

Good luck!

Elisabeth

In general directories you have to submit the index page once. No need to submit every page because if your home page gets a backlink from there so no need to submit landing pages or blog.

Arnold, Colin - thanks for the replies. That cleared things up for me. Got a little confused with social bookmarking where I need to bookmark every page of my website.

Cheers.

Directory submission are typically a one time thing.

Some directories will permit inside page submission but it is not the kind of service that is made to list every page in your site.

HeDir.com ranks #1 or #2 for "human edited directory"

DebtPlan.org ranks #3 for "debt consolidation california"
