youtube, powerpoint, publisher, can't get it to work

Hi you guys,

spent the last 2 hours trying to solve my problem to no avail. This is what I did:

Went to someone's website, copied their pictures, pasted them into publisher, saved it as a .jpg file, went to powerpoint, imported the picture and made my slide.

Once done, went to youtube and uploaded it, it would not take it.

What am I doing wrong? Got an appointment tomorrow morning and would really LOVE to show them what I did. If I can't make it work, I'm probably dead in the water.

Can you help?

    Hi there,

First, unless you have permission in writing, you should not take images from someone else's site. Not to be a downer here but that is content theft of someone else's copyrighted material. Now, I am going to give the benefit of the doubt here and assume you had permission....

Second, you need to create a video from your powerpoint. Use CamStudio to record the screen and play your slideshow while recording the screen content. You can then upload your video to YouTube and even use their music library to add some background music.

    All the best

    Sean

Thank you for your comments, however I am not stealing. What I AM doing is to show them the power of youtube. If thay are not interested, I will take it down within the next 24 hours.

I am not a thief, sorry you feel that way. However, between powerpoint, publisher and youtube, there should not be a need for camstudios.

I sure don't want to have to correct you but if you are taking other peoples content without permission and republishing it (even for 24 hours) that is a violation of someones copyright and most definitely content theft.

There are plenty of Royalty Free content sites where you can download studio quality shots for under a $1 a piece and stay 100% legal. Just trying to advise you and protect you from bad business practice.

If your client found out you were using content you did not have permission to use and you put them in a position of legal liability I am sure you would lose that clients pretty quick and possible face legal action from them too.

Like I say, just trying to give you advice from a professional standpoint.

Also, you can export video from powerpoint but you have to make sure your timings are correct. With using a screencapture tool like CamStudio or Camtasia you can manually set the timing or even narrate over the top of the videos. Powerpoints export for video is very cumbersome and gives very few options, which is why I suggested the other approach. Take it from someone who does this 4-5 times a day with Powerpoint to YouTube...

    Regards

    Sean

      Sean,

I think he may be using pictures from his client's website so that the video is pertinent.

I've never heard of a way to export PPT files as videos.

If all you want to do is to make a video using individual pictures, this product should work for you.

Free Web Slideshow Software by CodeJam

    It's free and easy.

You can use camtasia to create video from powerpoint.

Plus there are a few software solutions that turn powerpoint into flash movies.

Thanks for your opinions, now what about your solutions (without using camtasia)?
