Hello Warriors,

when you first start out in IM you get very passionate about it you love it and you do a lot of hard graft on your sites and offer.

I know I did and well I do now work some pretty long hours however when it starts effecting your social life you need to say screw it!!

I am watchng a lot of people burning the candle at both ends and getting very stressed especially the ones that actually need to make money to keep a roof over their head!!

and my advice is if you are not making regular money go get a JOB just one to pay the bills! this way it will relieve some of the stress you have got and open your mind up and you will find that the money is easier to make.

Dont see that getting a JOB is giving up because you will find that as long as you keep going you will make more and more money and then when you have 6 months bills paid in the bank then you can consider jacking your JOB in!

So anyhow, when I said screw it you need to get time away from the laptop otherwise you are just not as productive! IM can be like a gambling addiction dont let it get in the way of enjoying your life and keeping your friends and family away!

Just from my own experiences

Danny

  • I got pretty obsessive about IM on my first year, easily working 12 hours a day and therefore my social life took a big hit. Like anything else in life, it's all about finding a sensible balance.

Definetly agree I get burnt out. I also get allot of my best ad campaign ideas while out away from the computer. You can always use your time more wisely since the longer you work the less productive you get

I agree I get a lot of ideas while I am out even driving I often tell my GF to get a pen out and scribble something down.

I am obsessed with IM but I have to get away from teh laptop somedays cos my head gets fried!! but then when I get on something good I am on it till completion.

I have a great idea when I was in McD's today... looks like a good offline business too!

Ok, I'll be controversial and disagree

I think that if you're getting to the point where you need to 'get away' from your business - you're in the wrong business.

The whole point of being able to make money online is that you can choose to do it in a holistic way that makes what you love get you paid.

If you're you're chasing the dollar and doing things just for the money then obviously you're going to get burnt out because it's work. If you're making your passions pay, then work isn't a word that comes to mind and you don't need to get away from it.

I agree with Andy. If you're doing this just to make a buck and hate what
you're doing, there are easier ways to make a buck that you can actually
enjoy. If I didn't love doing this, no matter how much money I was making,
        I wouldn't do it.

Sorry, but if IM is that stressful for you then maybe you should be doing
        something else.

Oh, and one other thing, the word "the" is not spelled teh.

I disagree, Andy. I think that no matter how passionate you are and how well you are or are not doing, we all need to take a break. It's easy to get burned out even doing something you love. Besides, when you relax you see things from a different perspective which often makes coming up with new angles and ideas easier.

But the OP is not saying to take a break. The OP is saying to go get a job.

If you need to go get another job to get away from your business, then
      you're in the wrong business.

That's almost as insane as me working for AT&T, saying "I hate working
for corporations" and then going out and getting a job with another
corporation. In my case, working from home would be my only option.

Conversely, if you hate working from home, don't do it. Get a job. But
getting a job just to make your home business less stressful is not going
to solve the problem that you hate working at your home business.

But then again, that's just my opinion. Everybody is different and ultimately,
they have to do what they feel is right for them.

Haha, rubs hands together with evil laughter. Sounds like a movie. maybe they should do a movie about a crazy Internet Marketer who has only one goal: Destroy your Competition and be the 1st on Google

Anyways, I think that working from home is great, Sure everybody needs a break sometimse and that's why being your own boss is so perfect. You have the choice.

    Hello

I think I have not made myslef clear.

I am saying take a break relax go play golf get away from the computer just to clear your head.....lol

    And

when I said get a JOB I meant for those that cannot make enough money to pay the bills. I have been talking to a few newbies that are risking their houses to chase IM to me that is silly.

I have been in IM forever and a day now and not bored at all and some days I am pretty lazy but still get the buzzz

I know I really struggle to spell "THE" it bugs teh hell out of me....lol

I love IM personally and there is no other way of making money that is as exciting as working online

The problem is, and I know this from experience, the person struggling
with IM (and obviously if it's a struggle it's not enjoyable) is probably
doing it full time and still not getting anywhere, for whatever the reason.

Okay, now that same person goes out and gets a full time job. So they're
out of the house from, say, 8 to 6 (an hour for driving to and from a 9 to
      5 job).

They come home, eat dinner and now it's 7 PM. They're worked all day
      and they're beat.

They're first going to sit down and work on their home business?

Most people will be too damn tired to do it, especially when they have
more "I'm not making any money" days to look forward to. And how much
longer is it going to take them to start making money now that their IM
work day is down to 2, maybe 3 hours a day.

Trust me, most people will just say "screw it" because they just can't work
the two jobs. No way in hell could I do it and I'm making money doing this.

If I had to go out and get a job (say my wife threatened to leave me
if I didn't because she didn't want to live with the uncertainty of income
anymore) I'd absolutely give up IM. No way am I going to slave for a man
from 9 to 5 and then come home and work some more, even if I am
making money. I'd rather spend my evenings in the recording studio cranking
      out tunes.

On paper what you suggest seems reasonable, but I know human nature.

Most people could not hack it for long.

        Hello

I see what you mean...... but dont most people start off part time then build on it?

Did you just one day decide to be full time?

When I was plastering I would be on the tools all day and at night have to go quoting jobs.... I spose it depends what you want in life.

        All the best

        Danny

PS I am off to sleep getting late night all

PS I am off to sleep getting late night all

I had no choice. I started off full time because I lost my last main job,
but failing or not (and I did fail at the beginning) there was no way I was
going to go back to work (which I did for a while doing part time jobs)
and then come home to do this. I'd rather slit my wrists. So I decided
that I'd stop looking for work and do this full time, make it or break it, all
          or nothing.

It was the best decision I ever made, giving me success that I would have
never had, had I been working a regular job at the same time.

But like I said, everybody has to do what they think is best for them. I
just don't think working a full time job and doing IM part time is a viable
          option for most people.

A wise entreprenuer once told me. Never give in to defeat otherwise you'll never succeed!

For most it's not possible to revert back to a job and still pursue IM. Others will do it quite easily.

I see you cleared up and said go play golf etc but that won't make them any money and costs money to play.

The big idea is go do something you're good at to make money not something some book tells you to do. The book is only a base for inspiration not the base of your business.

I feel for the newbies cos I know their pain, it took me a year to get my head to where it is now. Focused on what I need to do to succeed.

Chase the wrong dream and you won't succeed!

Never let IM control your life. Sleep early - it is good for your health..

Enjoy your life but never sit in front of your laptop 24.7...Go gym..meet friends...and have fun.

Thats what I do and I love it.

Treat Internet Marketing as a hobby..
