Default Massive Facebook Group vs Traditional Mailing List

Hey guys,

Over the past few months i have been working on my facebook group which now has many targeted users all in it who are making me quite abit of money.

I am now wondering are they all safe to keep in this group and keep sending messgaes/invites etc or should i now start building a traditional mailing list for these users with aweber?

What are your thoughts?

JB

Hi JB,

if you're making money with them the way it is - then I would be happy to say it is "safe" to keep them in the group. After all, it's just another kind of optin. The benefit is, it grows virally as they tell their friends about it.

It might be a good idea to complement the group with an optin list, offering MORE value - if you're comfortable working with FB groups, there should be no reason to switch though, really. I wouldn't "force" them to move to a list though, FB is their "comfort zone" and it may be most effective to market to them there.

But, the only rule is... TEST.

I would personally get them on your list if your group is quite large. Facebook or any other social network can remove you with a click of a button. If the group is targetted offer them a freebie to get on your list. You'll have them on your list forever and can market to them in more ways than you are allowed to on facebook.

In fact PM me when you have a moment JB, I have a few questions.

This way you're doing BOTH, which to my way of thinking is the best of both worlds.

Paul Colligan recently posted his test results on his blog that compared to a 6 month old email list, a facebook group failed to even perform as well as that mailing list.

Isn't there a group messaging limit of 5000 on Facebook?

I know it's quite large but a restriction none the less.

I would encourage your friends to join your list.

MrEyeconic is right. The way you are now, you're completely at the mercy of Facebook. I wouldn't take extreme measures, but I would try to encourage them to join your list.

Like others have already mentioned, try to get them onto your own mailing list, by offering them a free bonus for signing up for it. Facebook could delete your group or your account at any time, and then you won't have a choice. Capitalize on this asset while you can.

You must create a list of those group members giving away some free gifts of the selected niche.

Everybody opens their email first in the morning and then go to Google or Facebook.
