CraigsList - Is it possible to post in US cities if you are based in the UK.

Are some categories blocked?

Yes it is possible to post in US cities if you are based in the UK but I have never had particularly good results. I've never come across a category that was blocked because I was a UK user.

Have you tried getting an ip based in the U.S.?
This may help you. Just find 1 U.S. ip and give it a test.

I use to post in the U.K. with U.S. ip's but after the recent updates I haven't tested it out.

I used a proxy to post on BackPage.com the other day and it worked fine. However I noticed they had removed my ad a few days later so maybe they wised up that I was not actually in the US.

The UK one is fine, but I am not sure how effective it is.

If your ad stuck for a few days then your ip was fine.

If you over posted too many ads under one account they will usually remove your ad group.

It you posted in the wrong category it will be removed or flagged by your competitor.

Watch out for automatic flagging for the use of certain keywords and links.

I would assume if your ad stuck for a few days it was mostly flagged by a competitor.

Well I did not advertise any money making products. I was advertising my online tutorial course in a software niche. It's not a cutthroat niche like the IM niche so unsure why a competitor would be bothered to go that far.

Hmmm, did you do multiply postings of this ad? Same exact ad?

If so you will have much better luck changing the ad up on each post and a different link too. Unique ads and links for every ad.

Another little trick is to check the box to hide all your listings so other can not follow all your ads you have posted.

People flag for no other reason but just to flag it happens a lot. They even use flagging software just for this purpose

Few other tips ...make sure the city you post in , that you type that city in the location area of the ad.

Don't use an email link and don't type in free in the amount box.

If your posting under one account, keep the number of ads to around 10 per account.
