Hello, I am new to the warrior forum but have been on several outsourcing sites for years. I am trying to learn the rules on Warrior without ruffling any feathers. Had a simple project to begin my journey on Warrior. Just needed a static home page built for a blog. Contacted a service provider here by email to do the work. Told me what it would cost and I accepted. I provided and example site to emulate, provided my art work and copy for the page. Needed a little programming to hyperlink the "Enter Site" button. Put in my background with no header and that was it. I have for the past 12 hrs emailed this provider numerous time telling them they crashed my site. No Response! Is this normal behavior from the service providers on Warrior Forum? How do you build relationships on the Warrior Forum? This was a small test project. Typical in the Freelance world. What is typically done in similar cases on the Warrior Forum? You help is appreciated Jim |

Yeah. Don't understand. You didn't HAVE a site, you hired someone to make one, right? Furthermore, if you said things like "I provided and example site to emulate" to your Warrior for Hire they may, legitimately, not have understood what you meant. I'm a native English speaker and I don't understand what the hell that meant. If you happened to hire someone from a non-English speaking country then God help them. I understand hiring outsourcers to do things you can't or don't want to do, but you DO need to be able to explain to them what you need. That's "your end of the bargain" when outsourcing: Tell them what you need. Good luck with your problem. |

Have you thought about the time difference? Could be that they were not awake and will find all of your pm's at once. Plus... How did they crash your site?

WoW the responses come fast. I had a fully functional blog fully indexed by the search engines. I just needed the static home page added as described above. Thanks for your concerns. Jim |

Sorry, only answered part of the questions. When I say they crashed the site I mean: I put the URL in the browser bar... hit enter and the site will not open. Get an error message. If you type in a keyword on google ... hit the link for our blog... It won't open. Get an error message. Again thanks for responding. Jim |

Unless you gave them ftp information for the site (you might have, I can't tell) then they shouldn't be able to do anything to the site you already have up. It's possible that whoever is hosting your site is currently down - who is your hosting provider? |

Sorry professor. I added an extra "d". Glad you pointed that out. Didn't mean to make you mad. I meant: "I provided an example site to emulate....." Hope cleared this up for everyone. Jim |

I assume it was a WP blog (most of the warriors use WP for blogging) and if you want a static homepage you just need to set a Page as your home/frontpage. Yes, you can create a totally different template for this one Page and set the Page to be displayed by that template. For any Wp expert is a relatively easy job. Otherwise, if the "static page" has nothing to do with the blog... why to mention the blog? So, what did you get from your provider? What did you upload to your site that it got crashed? Giving precise technical details always helps...

One-to-one settling of differences is favored as long as both parties respond.

I gave the provider the specific details and we were both on the same page. It was a WP blog. I did need a new template for the home page. I just gave a summary here of the project because I am looking for answers as to how to handle problems that arise like this on the Warrior Forum more so than I am in the actual project. Thanks for all your help. Jim |

So you paid them to build a simple static page and they crashed your blog? If that's what happened, get your money back and revert to your backup. (You do have a backup, right?) I'd be patient for another day or so before getting a refund.

I hope you had backups of your blog from before work started. Why don't you reinstate those. If I'm working on a site, I always do it on a test domain to be sure things work properly before uploading to a real site. Maybe you should set up a test sub-domain for your designer to work on until things are functioning correctly. |

Not sure what the proper time is on here to give someone a chance to correct something like this. "No Sales makes one crazy" Thanks Jim
