I hear mostly positive things about hostgator and innohosting.

Check out webhostingtalk.com forum (reseller section) for some real insights on starting a webhosting business.

I use Hostgator's reseller plan for my offline clients and have had nothing but good experiences.

I've had a reseller account at Hostdime.com for over a year and been nothing but happy.
They also have shared hosting, VPS, and dedicated servers all at reasonable prices.

They are always quick to respond to tickets and have just been all around great for the price.

Please don't go with Godaddy. That's for begginers!

Arvixe has a very good service too.

I second to stay away from "GoDaddy" for hosting. I use them for domains and nothing more.

Add me to the list of satisfied HostGator customers.

If you are really quick, you can still get the Pronet package.

They are oferring a full years hosting for $25

The offer does not include dedicated, but does include reseller accounts with 200gb diskspace, and 1000gb bandwidth.

The offer is only open in November, and it's in my sig.

I second the advice of other posters to stay away from Godaddy or the other big-name domain companies for hosting. If you are a serious IMer you would realize very quickly how very limited their hosting services are. Best of luck!

I don't know about how unique or innovative they are, but I've been quite satisfied with Hostgator.

  • I'm pretty biased in the Hosting I choose for myself. So I wouldn't recommend a host for others that I wouldn't use myself.

I'm not a big fan of HostGator... they are okay but if your clients push the system they could be unhappy with you.

So it really depends on the kind of clients you have, how much you can bill, and if you will always be the point of contact.

If your needs are minimal them maybe HostGator might work for you. But before you choose any host you should talk to them on the telephone, send them emails, contact their tech support people. Make sure you know what kind of support you can expect.

Unhappy clients will make your life miserable. This is why I choose to "recommend" a host and then make it clear to the people I work with that they should go direct to them for tech support. But I'm also not interested in the small margins of hosting. It's not my core competency.

There are 2 ways to go. You can get a reseller account (some cheap ones listed here), or you could get a VPS account so you have more control over the server.
