Default (100,000 credit default list) What would you do with this?

A guy walked into my office and proposed this to me:

He owned 6 check & cash places for many years, and sold them last year. He has a list of 100,000 people that have gone into default on their payment to his establishments.

He wants me to develop an email / direct mail marketing campaign to direct these people back to a website that offers(upon sign up), the secrets of the pay-day lending firms, and how to clean up what they did to your credit report.

The trick is, the terms and conditions of the sign up disclose a $10 per month fee that is tacked on to the phone bill(similar to freecreditreport.com). We have ran the numbers, and even if a VERY small amount of people stay signed up, it will still be profitable.

Obviously, the list is the valuable thing here. Maybe if it is profitable enough, I can get into the war room

What would my fellow warriors do with this opportunity? Please be specific

When he sold the businesses, did he not sell the rights to use the data? I would be surprised if he could legitimately contact these people.

I would personally check it out with your lawyer before doing a thing with it.

Your problem is that they didn't sign up to receive your offers.
They haven't asked to be contacted and spamming them would be illegal.

In my opinion the list is useless, though I expect I'm alone in believing in
the various anti spam rules.

Anyway goodluck,
Colin

Thank you for the input... the good news is THE LIST IS OPT IN I had a conference with the guy again to get some specific information. He did not get this list from his old payday stores, he is purchasing this and other lists from credited establishments.

So...
