Graphics sold on the WF (with PLR): STOLEN from GraphicRiver.net -- DON'T BUY/RESELL

Hello Warriors,

A friend of mine has just informed me that a pack of graphics named
"1009 MiniSite Graphics Package",
"1009 Webpage Graphics"
or something similar is sold with transferable PLR, PLR, or MRR by several
IMers since few days.

These graphics were stolen from GraphicRiver.net, a very popular
marketplace in the graphics community.

If you have a copy of this pack, you are not allowed to use them
nor resell them
.

Because of the PLR, they start to spread fast from a reseller to another.
They are even for sale on the french-speaking market...

This pack was on sale on the WF Classified Ads forum until today.
The ad has been reported and deleted.

Here's a sample of the graphics included in this pack (taken from
GraphicRiver.net) + the URL to the sales page on GraphicRiver.net
below each image.

=> Badges and Sale Tags for Online Shop - Graphics - GraphicRiver

=> 28 Download Buttons - Graphics - GraphicRiver

=> Clean Web Banners - Graphics - GraphicRiver

Thanks for reading.

Glad I didn't do anything with the graphics. Thanks for letting us know Didier, very much appreciated. Really sorry this happened to you. I know that must be frustrating.

Just by looking at the graphics in the package I can tell you spent lots of hard work on them. It's a shame what some will do. Not only do you as the creator lose out, but everyone else that paid.

Sadly, this is why I never buy PLR material because you just don't know if
      it's legit or not.

Sorry to hear yet another one of these horror stories.

But they no longer surprise me.

        These are not mine.

Mine - Marketing Graphics Pro Volume 2 will come "soon" (or a bit later ).
I promised it since a long time, but I was ill the past months (years, in fact...). I really feel better now, so it will be available December or January.

A friend of mine is among the graphic designers whose work was stolen (only a couple of graphics belong to him).

With another friend, we spent 3 whole days, 20 hours per day, to try to stop each and every reseller that we found. Some were pretty hard to convince.

We have sent hundreds of emails. Our English being not good (take us a lot of time to write in this language), it was really time-consuming and exhausting.

We did this to protect the intellectual property of our felow designers. No other reason. And we did it 100% free.

As a side note, on my side, I always chase people who sell illegally my RR products, to protect the legitimate resellers (my customers). But frankly, it starts to be a bit too much for me...

You're right Steven. One should take great care when buying RR/PLR stuff.

To be sure a certain product is original is not easy at all...

It was posted in the Classified Ads Forums, as Frank said above.

Many people post PLR stuff in the WSO forum...

Also, many Warriors, well-known and respected IMers included, post offers that are against the rules.

The WSO is now such a "strange place"...

The Warrior who sold them here is NOT the original creator.

We found her, and she said that she hired someone to make them for her, and that she thought they were original...

I believe it. Corbis does NOT play around. Neither does iStockPhoto. Both companies use a 3rd party service to identify licensed images and file legal claims.

I pay for each and every image I use. And when I need to reuse them, I pay again. I never buy PLR or MRR images for this specific reason. Spending $17 on PLR/MRR images could result in 5 digit lawsuits.

Sometimes you just gotta wonder if they still have the crack pipe in their hands as they are typing in the information for the "SCAM" WSO or what. You would think that before they would do something of this nature that they would realize that this is a forum where for the most part the IQ is a little higher than most places and they would not be in position to continue to make money at the Warrior Forum.

The license text file included with the product stated:
"You have complete PLR Rights to this package, but you can not give them away for free!"

Darn shame that people would stoop to these levels when it's so easy to grab genuine offers to sell on!

If any warrior EVER buys plr or resale rights of any kind and does not verify the source and original licenses from the copyright holders of all the content they are sold...

They should NEVER EVER EVER EVER assume that they have the legal right to sell them.

    Do your due dilligence.

This is not a new problem... for years even some of the biggest names in IM have illegally sold improperly licensed or even swiped unlicensed items with resale and even master resale rights.

    Trust no one.

    Verify everyone.

Don't stop until you find the original source and get a license or explicit permission in hand from the actual copyright holder.

    Caveat emptor!

      Exactly... BUT Cancel who's account?

Them who have the PDF license where it says they have rights to sell the pack. We all know that licenses can be faked.

I just called my solicitor and he asked me couple of questions.

      >> Are you sure that Graphicsriver never sold PLR even for once (Like limited edition or whatever)?
      >> Are you sure that the employee who created the graphics for them never had the rights to sell it as his own? ( He could have been laid off and not under any contract (if at all there was any)

my advisor says there are so many possibilities and unless the actual creator and files a dispute sort of thing against the one who started this chain there's nothing much we can do legally.

Of course, ethically we can do a lot of things like stopping to sell the packs and/or buying it ever again before getting in touch with graphics River.

Well, I am NOT advocating the actual thief, but all I am saying is that going after everybody who is selling it or using it in any way that's illegal will not be a fair idea.

    Hey there!

WOW... I just replied Didier's PM just now .. didn't know there's a solid discussion going on here, or else would have chimed in here earlier.

Like redislander and myself MANY guys are selling or have it in their membership sites. Thanks for whoever published it on WF (classified ads ) and Didier for bringing this to our notice.

Seriously the guy/gal who was selling it on WF as classified ad is NOT the real thief because this pack is NOT a new one . This is at least 24 months old ( or more)

I got these about 2 years ago from SDT Advertising ( I was not even a warrior back then as I joined the forum on feb 2011) and sold not only personal rights but resell rights too.

    Please understand this !

I know you guys are fuming at the original thief and not US warriors who just are victims of this scam , but still I want to let you all know about how it happened ( at least with me)

    - I signup for a membership site that offers me 100% to promote their product and direct download links of them.

    - I download them to find that I got MRR for an awesome graphics pack.

    - I get thrilled and I set it up on my site and sell the crap out of it with full confidence.

Then suddenly after 14 months or so I get to know that it was stolen :O

To make it worse, innocent marketers like me have added this pack to their membership Sites where they allow affiliates to promote this pack to their subscribers for commission.

OMG... how on earth cud anyone track where the graphics are flying atm?

Anyways, its never too late and I understand it's illegal so I am going to get in touch with graphicsriver.com or whatever the site is and pull off the pack from my site (DONE).

A Very quick Google search will show you that it's being sold by hundreds ( if not thousands) marketers out there who are also under the impression that they got "RIGHTS" to do what they are doing ( that's selling and making money from a hot graphics pack)

As Didier mentioned, it indeed is spreading like wild fire out there because of the resale rights... wow.. crazy ..isn't it ?
Thank God for Didier who let me know about this ( and Bill Ortell from RaPBank) who let me know about it too so that at least I know it's stolen and i am removing it from my site.

Any suggestions as to how we can TRACK BACK the actual thief ?

    God Bless
    Anwesh Rath

PS: Please understand that I am NOT blaming it on SDTAdvertising because they were awesome and I am sure even they got the wrong license. But in case we all really want to track the roots of this scam we will have to try to find the source (which IMHO is very difficult ).

I'm not quite clear on why this 2+ year old thread was bumped, but the WSO linked to above is NOT active at the moment, the thread is locked right now. EDIT: Looks like Paul just locked it, from his post above.

The way to deal with these types of things is to use the "Report Post" button to alert the mods to the problem, and let them sort it out. You can also post in the WSO thread itself to ask questions if you're concerned about the product's legality. However, it's against forum rules to start threads in other areas making accusations against other members.

    As a Graphics Guy:
These graphics have been floating around for a long time. Nothing new.

Anyone that has been doing graphics for any time can reproduce these very easy they are simple in design. Nothing too hard at all for a novice designer.

I still don't know why people make the same image into 10 images or more by just changing the color...

They say 1009 images or what ever the number but if you look at the images there really might be 50 just made all kinds of colors to make up 1009.

Just make one image and tech them how to change the color. It makes the download smaller, and is so simple to change the color no need for Photo Shop either.

I was told by a lawyer that if a image (example) say a Guarantee badge is found all over the internet (I forgot if there was a number or not it has been a while) many websites and you can see that in Google image the same image over and over out of control it becomes public and if you got sued in court the lawyer would use the Google search and show the judge or jury that the image is all over the Internet and 99% of the time it would not even go to court in the first place.

This was years ago when I created eCover actions and was trying to get a patent for the eCover actions back in 2000.

I'm not a lawyer I just hired one for my graphics designs.
Note: Don't take this as advice.

    Richard Dean

Edit: ya it is 2 years (post) old but I just did a search for any post and did see the package still in some packages.

Ken it shows that people do look at old post LOL
