Someone has included in a domain name a business I do some onlinestuff for. Basically they are best known for music and the albums they put out from festivals they run. "Company name" music revals 18k phrase searches a month. The company's website is in all top 5 postitions and dominates the rest of the first page. Someone registed "Company name"music.com a few years ago. The company has been putting out music since the early 90's and has a very strong domestic (UK) and a fairly strong international (esp in the US) rep in their genre. Whoever registed is a domain parker. They've done nothing with the website. Due to this they don't want to bother spending the lawyers fees on a domain that isn't likely to cause them any harm in not having in the short term. Other than the lawyer route, is there another, cheaper possible way of asking them to give the domain up? Email from "company name" dot com? Threat of lawyers? Token offer? If you've got experinace of what kind of -non lawyer- emails work, either cause you've had to send them or got them then I'd love to here from you... especially if domain parking is a big part of your business. Thanks |
