What would you do to monetize this domain?

Hello,

Happy Holidays.

I have a question for you all.

I have an old domain name. Have had it for about 7 years. I haven't really done anything with it for six months to a year, as far as promotion. Used very little in the last year or two for anything.

It currently just sits there and gets approx 500 hits a month.

The domain is cheap-land DOT com.

I am now pursuing IM and I need to make use of this traffic. I am looking for suggestions from the pros on how to monetize this domain.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Yes, thats a good idea or maybe a property portal where people can upload pics and sell their propery.

Possible income streams can be private advertisers and Adsense,

      Hope that helps

Lead generation for real estate agents.

Break it down into different geographic locations and when you start getting enough leads offer a continual subscription in exchange for 10 guaranteed leads each month to each real estate agent.

You'd have to drive a TON more traffic to it though.

      Just a thought

      Cheers

You could also write an ebook or report on buying property. It would have to be general enough to be of use in any location, but could include a checklist of important things like making sure the property is zoned for the buyer's intended use, water rights, utilities, etc.

Oh another good idea! How about a first time home buyers guide. BMO (Bank of Montreal) has one here in Canada that sells for $30 a pop.

    Here's a low-cost idea:
    • Do some keyword research using Google's free keyword tool (just search for that phrase to find it) and locate real estate related keywords with high CPC (Adwords cost per click).
    • Choose 5 - 15 of the keywords with the highest CPC.
    • Write (or outsource) a 300 - 500 word article for each of those keywords.
    • Post each of those articles as an individual page on your site.
    • Monetize each page with Google Adsense at the top of each page (signing up for your account is free; you can test as you go to find the best ad locations on the pages).
    • Install Google Analytics (also free) on each page.
    • Using Google Analytics, track which of your pages gets the most traffic and which keywords people are using to search for them.
    • Build your site based on those additional keywords by writing and adding more SEO pages monetized with Adsense.

These next few steps are for a site you want to develop further:
    • Write (or outsource) an ebook or report (with sales page) based on the most popular search topic identified by Google Analytics.
    • Set the product up on its own sales page.
    • Write (or outsource) a review or pre-sell article for your product on your website, and include a link to your product's sales page.
    • Set and forget, or build back links and drive traffic (your choice).
You don't have to do it all at once. If you can just get the keyword research done, set up a basic site, post a few SEO articles and monetize them with Adsense, you'll be far ahead of a vacant domain. With that minimal development work, you could even sell the site if you choose.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Maybe it could be a search engine of sorts that finds all the "cheap land" in certain areas. You could hook up to big real estate sites from the U.S. and list their cheapest land.

While you're deciding, you should be parking that domain (if you haven't already!) To at least make SOME money.

Hi, I noticed that there are a few clickbank products on buying and selling real estate, maybe you could promote these from a blog?

    Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I am planning an ebook for next year. I will leave up the old page and name it index_OLD, or something, and us it as a kind of testimony page. I realize I will have to put up a standard results disclaimer.

I had the domain parked at WhyPark for a few weeks. I was afraid it would drive my traffic away and I wasn't making any money anyway so I figured I'd put the site back up. I have often wondered if I made a mistake there. Although I did sell those 5 lots that are on the front page.

I considered adsense, but my adsense income has been kind of a waste of time up to this point. I was actually thinking about buying Xfactor's course to get an adsense boost.

Actually I just checked my adsense account and I am doing better than I thought. I made $.59, that's 59 cents, in October. I pulled my adsense and put up a cpa ads instead. One of the CPA ads pays $27 for a free trial.

I have bought several courses that I am currently working, as time allows. I just monetized 3 or 4 of my sites, and promoted them, so they should start seeing some traffic soon. Enough to make a few bucks.

I just got to thinking about all that wasted traffic and here I am trying to get traffic to new sites. Almost seems criminal to not make some money from that site.

Anyway everyone have a great Holiday and thanks again.

    Steve
