Product Advice Please - Which Path to Take?

I am just finishing a 50-ish page ebook in the evergreen Dog niche.

This book is nothing to do with training or buying your first dog but in a more specialized area.

This is my first ever eBook and I have written about an area in which I have extensive knowledge and experience.

Should I sell it as a PLR book or what other path could I take to make a few $'s?

Thank you.

Karen

If it is advanced, why sell it for less money? Dog niche has buying crowd. Why not sell it for a high price? And why do you want to sell it as a PLR book? My suggestion is to treat it as a very good product since it is advanced and sell it at a high price. I always think good products should not be sold as PLR or at less price.

    my suggestion...

Write a small eBook summary of what the big book contains. Then write articles that lead people to a landing page where you give away the small ebook.

Then use your autoresponder to sell them on the big ebook.

Or - you could run a PPC campiagn and send people to a landing page offering your free small ebook and then do the same thing - sell them on the big ebook in the followup emails.

The thing is, once you have a list of "dog" people, you can offer them ALL the dog training/dog food/dog products over time.

Thank you for your suggestions - I'm a bit unsure as to how much I could reasonably charge for an eBook.

Should I wait until I have it completed then ask for a few reviews and price suggestions?

    Thanks

I would check Clickbank and find out which similar products in that niche are selling well, and charge a similar price. You could also always add bonus items to add value to the package and charge more for it. Also, keep in mind that if you plan to have affiliates promote the product for you at some point, you'll have to factor their commission into the price. If that's the case, be willing to offer them a larger percentage upfront*, to make the product more attractive to affiliates. With affiliates actively promoting your product, you can build a list of subscribers and make make more money on the "backend" through sales of additional products to that list.

*Depending on the price of the product. If the product is priced relatively low, I'd be willing to pay them 75%. If it's a higher price point, then you could offer 50%, for example.

Yes that sounds better. Finish your product, send a copy to someone who has been in the niche for sometime and ask them how much they can price it. You can also get a testimonial from them. It is always easy for someone else to find the value of your product than yourself. We either charge very less or overprice our products.

$37 is a good price for a 50ish page ebook.

do not be too much in a haste to price low as dog niche is a fast selling niche. Whatever price your mind fix, go ahead and with advert and publicity you will see demand

You can go a number of ways
I would not really recommend putting it out there as PLR though after you worked so hard on it.
Create an affiliate page around it and sell it for about $37 or less. You can even add it on clickbank. But for an ebook alone with no video or anything $17 to $37 sounds like a normal amount for such a product.

    Another couple of questions:

In order to sell my book using affiliates, what tools do I need to supply - banners, articles, freebies etc?

Approximately how much should I pay to get those tool made and can anyone recommend a reputable source(I'm not at all technical)?

Is Clickbank the best vehicle to use for a 'first timer'?

This is my very first trip down this road, so I value your input!

    Thank you

For affiliates, the more high quality stuff they can use, the better. Stuff like:

    - Banners
    - Articles
    - Pre made emails they can swipe
    - Keywords (for ppc)

Look at some of the hottest dog products on Clickbank Marketplace, see what tools they offer their affiliates and offer the same / better.

Check out the Warriors For Hire section, you'll get some good deals on design (and other affiliate elements)

I've checked out CB and there doesn't seem to be another product in the same 'Dog' area as mine.

Would this mean that there isn't a market for this niche or maybe it's just not been done?

I would have thought that everything in the dog niche had been done to death!

Is it worth putting it on CB and paying for all the affiliate tools?

Or should I just 'go it alone' and see what happens?

    Thanks again.

I don't think everything in the dog niche has been done to death.

I'm working on a couple of products in that niche and they have no competition either, but from dealing with dog owners on a regular basis at work (I'm a vet), I know there's definitely a need for these products.

I agree with not selling as plr. If you've just about finished the book, then go the Clickbank way. Have a look in Warriors for Hire for a graphics person, there's some great work in there.

Worst case scenario - if it doesn't sell, you've taken action and learned a lot about product creation. But, like you said, the dog niche is evergreen, so you should do okay.
