need help with promotion..

Hello Guys,

I am tryna do SEO or Instant promotion for a card game site.
A little discription about the site,
The site is about card game and the actual game will be held on TV after 5 months.
There is paid subscription like for around 30$, and the owner needs more than 500 subscribers per month.
The site has just been up so no SEOed, I am going to look after it.
I have thought of Adwords, but nothing else seems to come to my mind.
Please share your thoughts of promotions, cos I think it's not SEO that I will have to do, it will be instant promotion.

    That might be something you could promote with Facebook or Myspace advertising if it appeals to a general audience and doesn't require a prior skill set. You'll need to develop a landing page for your ad in any event. I wouldn't drive traffic to the main site however. Drive it instead to a list builder page as trueitalian suggests, or a presell page (should do both on same page - give a trial membership or something to get their name and email address.).

    facebook is a real emerging powerhouse in terms of traffic generation and promotion. might want to check that out.

    Billy has always been active in replying to such threads, thanks alot Billy.
    Special thanks to livayahurd and gbd, its a really valuable points to remember.
    But as I said the site hasnt been SEOed and needs alot of paying visitors, so I think it will need a good strategy.
    I am thinking of targeting facebook and myspace as it will be an opportunity to reach the audience directly. Also forum posting.
    Is there any criteria that I can promote in my region on larger scale except adwords?
    Cos article submission will give me only traffic, it might not be of much use to me.

    Join an All Games forum and promote from there. Its targeted traffic. Try banner ads on MS or FB game sites. Work with YT (Youtube) and get a video out. People love to see what they're playing first. SEO for search engines is not quite what you need but it helps. You need to be in front of the gaming crowd or atleast in it to get noticed.

    Join groups and hang out with the gaming peeps. exchange ideas and note. it takes time but atleast you know its targeted. Let them get the word out for you. Its like having a party at your house but nobody's home ... simply yell across the street and invite your neighbors then soon one tells the other and so on and you'll have a house full of people. Huh?. lol
