I hired my friend to do up this website of mine, was wondering whether people would be enticed enough to purchase products from here.

    Looks pretty good. You should consider having a "featured" product at the top that you think might convert the best, as in my experience products seem to convert best when users have fewer choices and people are prone to buy the first one they look at a lot of the time.

    Decent effort, but if you want to sell books, offer excerpts and reviews of each book.

    Lose the various niches category and make it more specific.

    And the header graphic screams low quality to me.
