You're WASTING your TRAFFIC if you're doing this...

Recently I found a keyword with 400 plus searches a month and when I searched for it at GOOGLE, I saw an EZA article at #2 . Then I clicked on the article and found out that it's a seo driven article. But the information was related to the keyword..

BUt when I saw the resource box,I was SURPRISED.I expected to see a link to a money making site related to the keyword but I found a link to a garagesale site..lol.

I thought that the writer is wasting her traffic. She's ranking WELL for the keyword but totally MISLEADING the readers to a NON relevant link.

Even if the link got clicked, do you think that the TRAFFIC will convert? I don't think so.

When I looked for another keyword, again her article was THERE with a NON relevant link.

Her articles are OPTIMIZED well for the SE and I believe that she knows great SEO stuff. But she's WASTING her traffic I guess!

And if it's you, If you WRITE article on DATING TIPS would you put a link to an affiliate marketing course?

Don't waste your traffic guys!!

I agree with you that we should place relevant links in the source box as visitors would click on the link only if they are interested on relevant stuff.

Potentially a waste of traffic, but ...

Not having seen the articles or sites myself, it could be that the writer simply got lucky. This is my own opinion, of course.

Perhaps the writer is not an IMer (but may have been, or is, an article or other kind of writer) and was simply intending to publicize or send traffic to the particular garage sale mentioned, at that point in time - yet got good results.

I expect that the garage sale is probably all sold out by now anyway, probably snapped up by the neighbors - damn waste of effort in article writing I say

    Just my thoughts,

    Jeff.

That's definitelly strange..if the author knows SEO well, there is no point to write articles with useless links.. I think none of the warriors would not do that mistake

lol. Has nobody in this thread heard of backlinks?

I suspect the author referred to in the OP knows exactly what she's doing. The article was probably written with the express intention of getting the site referenced in her sig ranked. She may have felt that the subject of the article would be likely to get her site indexed quicker than a (more relevant) piece about garage sales.

      Article marketing takes many forms.

If the author is purposely doing that, even if her ARTICLE is damm good, she's still sending the WRONG traffic to her link right? The article is about self improvement tips and certainly you wouldn't expect a link to a non relevant link.

But still, she's stealing traffic from other marketers who're genuine to capture that market. It's a matter of time before someone outrank her article!!

Anyway like you said, ARTICLE MARKETING do take many forms..lol

Pay to put your link in the article then , seems like the logical thing to ask.

there could be many reasons why she didn't include a relevant link to her site. the niche might not have been profitable or who knows, she might have been paid for to put that link up. who knows.

Actually the page is offering a freebie for an email id (email marketing) the it may convert. But seeing bucks for this kind of stupidity is very much impossible.

It's like running a health blog on a technology domain.lol..
