Facebook AARAGHGHAAAHH!!!

Is anyone else finding themselves distracted by social networking sites for the wrong reasons because I sure as hell am .

I'm actually going to start a new group on facebook, "who thinks that the biggest time waster in the world is facebook?"

If I was working I wouldn't mind, but talking to friends!! NO!!

I need to work!!

Well, I only use facebook to "connect with friends and family".

PLUS, it is THE cool website to use in my age group and country/culture.

Seems like facebook is being used by Companies and school as a despicable tools to track folks down. Its getting "unhealthy" IMHO.

1 thing for sure, why the need to post your pictures or any of your families members or friends online? You are putting the risk of being stalk or photo downloaded for wrong reasons.

I am sure Interaction can be done w/o Pics.

Why even let your family members out of the house at all? They're much more likely to get stalked walking out the front door every day than on Facebook.

I've always thought that instead of calling it the internet, they should've named it "The Big, Shiny Distraction Machine"

In all seriousness, it's all in how you organize your time. You could designate a specific time in your day, after you've gotten all your most important tasks out of the way, as "Facebook Time". That way, you don't have to worry about it cutting into your other projects because you've already completed your tasks for the day.

Social networking can be fun however not many facebook members didnt set it to "private" in their account thus many got unwanted attentions for wrong reasons. oh well...

          Cheers mates

Having specific times where you do your business stuff and having a time to goof off are essential. If you do too much of either, you won't have success, you'll limit your growth, or crash and burn.

Eben Pagan talks about working for about 60-90 mins, then completely relaxing for 30 mins before you start working again. If you're idea of relaxing is Mafia Wars, and whatever other game that's out there...good for you. Just don't forget to get back to work.

Keep a sheet of how productive you social stuff is. Find out what your #1 money making activity and focus 80% of your time on that. Get other people to do the rest.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to slate Facebook. I am well aware of the benefits of using the platform, all I am trying to say is it can be distracting can't it?

I happen to know "due to a family member who is a debt collector" that debt
collectors aggresively search for people on Facebook for email, telephone numbers, address etc. Be careful what you post on popular social sites including classmates.com! They will also hassle your relatives by email!

I heard it from the source.

I actually had to delete my accounts on various social networking sites, because they're a huge timesuck. It's great to re-connect and stay connected with family and friends (that's how I used them, as opposed to marketing purposes), but when you work full-time on the computer you can't have that big of a distraction. Some people have the self-discipline to check it only once a day, but I found that hard to do, as I was always wondering what everyone was up to. lol

I think that the best way is to "reward" yourself with facebook time or in my case reading a new method.

The way I did it once I realized how much time I was wasting and not taking action, I just quit cold turkey and take an hour each day as a "reward" to do my time wasting activities.

While I have always said and always will say .. These web 2.0 sites are not your marketing platform. Social networks are meant to be just that "social networks", meaning socialize with one another and network together.

This does not mean join the freaking social network to spam your junk all over the place like many so called marketers have done. This is nothing new, we all know wannabe marketers do this so do not get your panties in a twist by reading this.

Using a social platform to market "yourself" is perfectly acceptable as long as you are doing it the proper way. This means join the network, make friends (not some stupid auto add crap) and interact with this and share with them.. Sharing does not mean hey dude come buy my stuff. What it means is getting to know someone and allowing them to get to know you.

There is a great deal of opportunities in places like facebook that many do not see because some are just to worried about how to auto post spam marketing messages, how to auto add friends, and just plain how to automate the entire thing. These people will never last long and if they make any money it will be short lived.

By taking the time to stop and smell the roses you will have a great deal more appreciation for the network. If you give and not expect anything in return then you will see a higher success rate at social networks. This means post helpful tips (WITH NO WEBSITE LINKS) that are of interest to your friends. Build a relationship with these friends because that is how you truly make a success out of social networks.

Yes many will say .... But ... I do not have the time to do all this. Well not to be rude or anything but if you do not have the time then get out of this business and get a job. That may sound harsh to some but what I tell you is the truth.

You must be willing to spend the time at these networks and build those relationships. You do not have to join 20 or 30 of them, just join handful and work on those even if it is only 1 hour a day.

Can it be distracting ?? Well that depends upon your focus.. Sure I can go play a game for 15 minutes and get right back to work with no problems. Others may not be able to do this but if that is the case then you need to work on your focus.

I cant stand these facebook type sites. They drive me up the wall.

Constant email messages, status updates, pokes tweets, twallows jesus I cant keep up with all the jargon spewed out by these platforms on some cyber supposed new best friend I have the pleasure of being stalked by.

Why cant people pick up the phone and spend quality time with their friends and associates.

I remember the slogan from BT - years back when it was " good to talk" - I guess nowadays its good to facebook.

I use it to connect with family and friends. However, I am very careful about what I post - I CANNOT believe what some people post on Facebook. The games can be a HUGE time waster though...

Eliminate any distraction that prevents you from moving forward - including women

    Start using this...

TimeLeft - Free clock, reminder, countdown, stopwatch, timer, sticker, auction watch and time synchronization utility using Winamp skins to show digits and text.

Use the stop watch - and start "timing" your actual work time. Youd be surprised just how easy it is to sit at the computer for 15 hours, yet only do 30 minutes of work.

Whichever way you cut it - whats more important to you? Making a fortune, having freedom to do whatever you want...

    ....or chatting on facebook?
