Sending articles to directories and blog

INTERNET MARKETING

I have a blog, and I'm trying to make it into an authority site on my topic. I'm going to use article marketing as one of my traffic techniques but I need to know something before I proceed. If I write an article for the article directories pointing to my blog, can I place that same article as a post on my blog. Will google see that as duplicate content and slam me for that. Or should I play it safe and write different articles for the directories and my blog. Any feedback will be appreciated.

While not on a regular basis, I do this from time to time. And, I've read posts where other marketers do the same.

Don't think you'll run into any big problem here, but that's just my take on it.

  I do it from time to time aswell with no problems. However I probably won't do it all the time with all my articles.
  
  I at least wait a while for google to index my article and then I'll post it on my blog.
