How much would you buy/sell this website for? Currently avrges $40 p/m autopilot...

Hey guys,

Just wondering if i can get your expert opinions>?

About a year ago, BAN's style websites hit the scene using the eBay partner network
as the source of income. I created a quick little test site in under 2 hours, added some special sauce... and left it.

Then over the year almost every month, the website kept
returning a little income (averaging $40 p/m)...

(there were 2 months where me site was down due to hosting issues)

Total amount made $495.78 in completely automated income.
This months total is already $41.50, so the total is over $500.

The site has potential to earn more, i.e. it is scaleable.

All I'd have to do, is transfer the domain name and
add the new owners ebay partner network ID to the site...

and they'd be making money.

How much would you expect to buy or sell something like this for?

I'd really appreciate your expertise in this one guys,
I dont use digital point. have never flipped or sold websites...

and Im trying to raise some quick income for my move
to melbourne (australia).

Please helP if you're an expert!

- aj

p.s.

In the interest of the potential new buyer,
I'd like to keep the website niche & address under wraps if that's ok.

  • Usually a website is worth between 10-14 months revenue, but it also depends on your daily traffic and content.

so i would look at around $500 mark, without knowing the niche and traffic details.

As long as you have proof to back it up, Id expect to sell in the $400 range. Anything more would be fantastic.

    Thanks Brandon,

    So $400 - $500?

    I do have proof...

I guess the other question would be... where is the best place to sell the website?

I see the warriorforum has a website for sale forum however,
I think it would be better to sell outside the WF.

Any other suggestions>? (apart from Digital Point)...

Generally websites sell pretty well at 10x their monthly gross. I would check sedo dot com and flippa dot com for comps. I personally have had NO success with Ebay.

Is the $40 per month in USD or AU currency? I think the main idea you should keep in mind when selling, is to explain what costs are involved to keep the site running, and exactly what is required to maintain the current level of income. For example, if this is all setup to run on autopilot, what will the new owner have to do to keep the same setup, or move the site to their own server. Talk about licenses or fees you have to pay each month or each year.

And while it is nice to mention the potential of the site and future earnings, the real selling point is going to be the track record you've built up over the last 12 months. Include traffic stats such as unique visitors each day/month, and the sources of that traffic. Sometimes the buyer will want to verify the stats using Google analytics or another method where you share your desktop (webex, or video recording) to show you actually logging into to your server stats screens.

Keep us informed. We want to know what happens. Thanks!

    Great points guys...

I guess the only real outlay is hosting. $4.95 p/m?

Thank you so much for your insight... it's giving me the angle i need
to hit the auction copy right when listing the website.

    Thanks again!
