Traffic Hungry Squidoo Update: Link+Alt All Images

Well hello there lovely WF Squidooer

Nice bit of news for you here.

Squidoo has made an update that we Traffic Hungry Marketers are going to LOVE.

In every text module it's been possible to upload an image since Squidoo Day 1. The trouble is, we weren't able to link those images to anywhere, and we weren't able to add ALT tags.

But NOW we can!

This means:

1. Images can send traffic to your website. Sadly, it doesn't work in the intro module, but works in the rest.

2. Adding an 'Alt' tag to each image will help you get traffic from Google Images to your lens, and help you insert your Target Keywords into your lens in more places than normal.

If you have hundreds of lenses like me... this is mixed news... because you'll have a lot of work optimising your old lenses...

Got any creative use of this new feature? Share it with everyone else to check out your lens!

This is fantastic news!! There are so many people who click on images instead of links ~ this should help click through rates a lot! Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah I noticed this tonight when flipping a lens. Awesome! But i have a question Lewis - do those image links count toward your 9 per lens limit?

I know it doesn't for we Giant Squids, but if i sell a lens to a non giant?

I would guess yes. That's what I'd bet money on!

To anyone who doesn't know, Tiff is referring to the Squidoo rule that you can't have more than 9 links to any single domain on a lens. You can post as many links to as many sites as you like, but you can't have more than 9 to the same site.

What should the code look like if i wanted my image to have the "alt" tag?
Does this code also act like the anchor tag?

You don't need to know any code. It's built into the Squidoo Text Modules, just beneath the bit where you upload the image.

Does linking an image improve your rankings in Google or is it the same as any hyperlink within the text???

Try pasting the code in again inside the following tags:

    [ code] LINK HERE [/code ]

But close the spaces with the square brackets. It's not letting me show you because it's converting them!

This should let the forum display it correctly.

Well the link looks ok, so maybe you just want to use something like tinyurl.com to shorten it. Perhaps squidoo has a character limit on the link, or maybe even breaks amazon links that aren't there own! I haven't tested these ideas, but shortening it via something like tinyurl.com should work just fine.

Jackie - you can also write your own, shorter Amazon links. All you need to know is the ASIN and your associate tag:

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VSKAI8?tag=powerfulint08-20
