Will FTC Clamp Down On Google?
As Dec 1 looms, I'm still very confused over FTC's ruling about testimonials.
To me, it's vague. And the whole picture is quite a grey area to me.
I understand that FTC doesn't allow testimonials that shows
result that are not typical.
Hmmm...not typical?
What about success stories listed at the Google Adwords site?
=> https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...e%26ugl%3Dtrue
Click on "success stories".
2 testimonials listed are:
"Goal: Bigger customer base, better shopping experience Carolina Rustica used Google AdWords, Analytics, Checkout, and Base to increase its conversion rate by 20% and overall sales by 50%."
"Goal: Increase local business First Crush Restaurant used Google AdWords to increase its site traffic by 400% and connect with out-of-town customers."
Are these results typical?
I'm not sure if majority of Google Adwords clients get these
results. But is it possible?
As a user of Adwords PPC, the results are definitely possible.
To me, such success stories are believable and credible.
Question is - will such testimonials be in line with FTC's regulation?
Who is to say what results are typical or not typical?
How can FTC even regulate this?
What if the results are real and given by real people, but can't be used
(according to FTC) just because others don't apply the product properly?
I apologize in advance if these questions have already been
addressed before in here. Though I'm not really affected by this
ruling (I'm based out of US), I still like to have a clearer picture on this issue.
Anyone who can point me in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
