Still a Newbie, But Actually Growing My IM Income

Here is my two cents to those that have not made any money in IM yet.

There are some excellent business models on this forum. The problem is deciding what you are going to do. In one post someone will detail exactly what they did, and then tell you what not to do. In the next post someone else will do the exact opposite of the previous post, and they will do very well with it. You have to spend some time and decide what you want to do first, and then go and do it.

Once you decide what you are going to do, you should spend a day or two researching your project. If you decide that its not for you then move on. If you are ready for the next step, then take action. That is the key, TAKE ACTION. Focus only on one project at a time. Down the road you will be able to handle several at once if you so choose. When you are a newbie all of your efforts should go into the one project that you are focusing on. If you don't you will end up with ten partially started projects and 0 dollars in the bank.

If you stick around the forum long enough you will recognize that some members spend there entire day on here without doing anything productive. I spend about 15 minutes a week on this forum without a game plan. The rest of the time I spend on this forum is to research what I am currently working on. I am constantly trying to find ways to do what I do faster and better.

Once you have taken action the process is simple. You evaluate what happens and then make adjustments. This process gets repeated over and over. Even after you start to make money you need to tweak what you are doing to see if there is a better way.

Once you have something that works you duplicate it over and over again. This is where the money comes from. If you can make $5 doing something, you can repeat it 9 times more for $50.

I researched IM for a couple years before I did anything. I would read for a couple hours here and there before I became serious. Last summer I lost one of my jobs. I began researching IM again. I tried 3 different IM tactics, making different types of websites and made almost nothing.

In February of this year I took one of my projects and completely overhauled what I was doing. I went live the last week of February and made $1.05. I was ecstatic (my wife wasn't). Every month since then I have increased my earnings by at least 30 percent. I am now making a few hundred dollars per month. In the next four to six months I anticipate making over $4k per month. I am just going to repeat what I am doing now over and over, until I get there because I know what I am doing now works. At that time I am going to shift gears and spend part of my time trying new projects while I continue to slowly build my main money maker. By the way right now I spend about 10-20 hrs a week doing IM.

The point that I am trying to make here is that I read so many posts where people seem to be looking for a get rich quick scheme. Once they hear that someone else made a couple bucks, they drop everything they are doing to follow the new leader. I don't believe that is how IM works. IM involves trial and error. Every time you make an error, you have just learned one way not to make money. Of course there are those that just happen to make it big within days of trying IM. But the rest of us have to work hard at what we do.

By the way, I didn't mention what I am doing. I did that on purpose because what I am doing has been discussed over and over on this forum. I haven't reinvented the wheel. The fact of the matter is, 'everyone needs to go out and decide what they want to do for themselves'.

I agree 100% with you. At first people may think IM is all about getting rich quickly, speciallly when we read those posts from the gurus, describing how they made thousands of dollars in a few hours..

While this may be true if you've been at it for a while and have a big list, that's not the case for most newbies. In fact, to get where these guys are, you have to put a lot of work to it.

You have said it all. Focus! Focus! Focus! is a major key factor to succeed in the world of IM.

I once had that problem too before I was able to get my rhythm well.

I agree.... Things started working for me as soon as I made a decision and focused 100% on that.

I think that the big problem in IM is that people gets to easily distracted by new and shiny stuff all the time.

I am always amazed when I talk to someone and they tell me that they made xxx amount of dollars doing this, but now they are doing something completely different with terrible results. My method for making money is not fun to me at all. But I am going to stick with it until it pays my bills. Then I will look into other avenues of income from IM.

I think the difference between those that make it and those that don't come down to this concept. Focusing on one project long enough to determine if it will make money or not. If it will make money then stay with it long enough to see it through. Then move on to something else.

I don't think that there is a one size fits all program out there. You have to try several different programs before you find one that works. but when you find one that works, stick with it.

Add to that, the ability to scale one's business by outsourcing or with the use of tools...

That's the most important point all newbies should come away with.

People are afraid to fail - which is why 99% of the people who buy these courses never do anything with them. they are afraid to waste their time or money and look stupid to their friends.

If they would just try it out, by just starting out making just 1 website, they might realize it is actually possible.

    Good post!
