Hi everybody,
this is my 100th post here, and that's why I decided to share some cool information with you.
This post is about 3 common security problems which can be during product launch.
I have seen that many times those mistakes are made by big and small internet marketers.
Those 3 common mistakes can bring huge damage during product launch, cause it opens
a "door" to your product, when others can get it for free right away.
So, let's get started:

#1 mistake - videos, my hosting and lost...

This mistake is common, when you created your product with different videos.
And you decided to host your videos at your web-hosting.
For example, video file will be like: www.yourdomain.com/1.flv

That's mean that everybody can view source of your html page and see the name of
your FLV file and download it right away.
Also, if you made a special directory of your videos like www.yourdomain.com/videos/
you can loose all your videos, cause a person can simply visit that directory and download
all those videos.

Just only in this year I saw 2 times by myself when big "gurus" made this mistake during their
product launch. Sure, I informed them about that right away.

What to do in such situation:
1. My advice - use Amazon Web Services (AWS) with EZS3 service for hosting your videos.
2. Limit access to directory "videos" (if you have such ones).
3. Create a membership section.

#2 mistake - videos to be or not to be...

This mistake is again about videos in your product. As you know, #1 place of hosting your videos
is Amazon Web Service with EZS3 service. So, when you are using EZS3 service, which is
really very great one - you need to create a folder where you will upload all your videos.
Many times people forgot to make that folder PRIVATE.
Even during CPATsunami product launch, their folder was open and again everybody could
download their videos.

What do to in such situation:

ALWAYS! Make your folder at EZS3 private one!

#3 mistake. Google is your enemy?

Ok... this mistake is very complex one.
Let's general picture - you made product. There are many web pages for that like landing pages, squize pages,
and ... thank you page with your product on it. Right?
Now, you forgot that Google can index your thank you page. And if somebody will make search in google like:
"site:yoursite.com" - they can easily find your thank you page with your product and download it right away!
This mistake is so common on the market. Last one who did even was Russel Brunson. Luckily I informed him
about this issue before product was available for buying.
Remember that all the time different search engines can index al your web pages.

What do to in such situation:

1. Protect thank you pages from indexing by search engines.
2. Make membership section for you thank you page.

That's it... I hope that this information will help you during your product launch.
And you will not let anybody to get your product without your permission.

Hmmm I don't really consider the information you posted directly related to a product launch but it will help others knowing that they need to secure their sites better.

Heres my tip for a product launch...

Make sure that your site your launching is set-up on a server that can handle a lot of traffic.

A dedicated server s recommended but Just because you have a dedicated server does not mean that your site will still be able to handle traffic loads. Espcially if your running a script to handle your payments that pulls through mysql. like RAP or ,BFM,etc.

What happens is that order links and affiliate links will do cross checks and enter data into your DB.

What this causes is that sure your web pages themselves might be able to handle the server loads from traffic but your DB will get crushed from so many calls and can time out. There is a big difference.

Example: We had a launch recently running a script called RAP and the order links and aff links runs through MYSQL. We have been usng RAP since it came out in 2007 (great script) but under heavy traffic for this launch it crushed our servers from the calls to the MYSQL DB even thouhg we were on a dedicated server that can handle large amounts of traffic.

    The end effect?

The page that traffic goes to will show MYSQL overload errors or very slow load times which will cause nobody to be able to order or some orders slipping thru slow.

Oh and if you have a membership site it may cause some members to get in half way but not fully register them properly into the DB. Big problem with customers that DID get in.

So again if you have any kind of large launch make sure your server can handle the load particulary on the DB. If your running a dedicated server make sure your DS can handle the load. We had to do an emergency upgrade during the launch which also caused slow down in orders and short term issues.
