Does the FTC rules apply on testimonials for affiliate programs?

Hi guys,

In my affiliate page, I got some testimonials from other marketers regarding how much they made from promoting my course.

Is this covered by the FTC rules? I mean, it's not selling anything but simply enticing affiliates to promote my course.

Thanks,
Michael

I am not a lawyer so don't quote me on this, but, the guidelines, as I
understand them, apply to anything that is being sold.

An affiliate program is free to join and thus not something you are selling.

If in doubt, ask a lawyer.

A testimonial is still a testimonial. Can you prove that the "typical" or "average" person will make that kind of money? That is the implication, and falls under the new guidelines.

I think it's a great question. What I've noticed is even attorneys aren't real keen on answering questions like these as most don't know what's going to happen.

I was also thinking about using some of my results-based testimonials as follow-up for my buyers. That way they see that the programs really work and hopefully become more motivated. That's also not really using them as a selling tool.
