I have been reading alot of warriors refer to there blog as there bread and butter...
my blog is not really somewhere i direct traffic to its just there for quality score, is this a mistake?

my blog is just a directory after my domain, should my blog be my main landing page?

I have been posting my fresh articles onto a webpage of their own on my domain, should i be posting these on the blog instead or post on their own page and blog of the same domain?

I use artisteer to create a custom wp theme and make it look like it's just a static webpage. I also change the permalink to /%postname%.html to help.

I install wp in the root directory.

All this really helps with managing content ony my sites and helps with seo.

Jack, have you noticed any marked increase in traffic doing this over a blog where you use standard /%postname%/ ?

Adding the ".html" doesn't really do anything as far as traffic. It just makes my pages look static and not a blog.

I like blogs for the interaction - comments are great to find out what your customers want and to use as testimonials

plus I like to funnel social media traffic to my blog

other than that I try to send new traffic to a squeeze page and on rare cases a sales page...

I like to send me list to my blog and sometimes pages with just videos or a download page of some sort

yes i am not that falmiliar with WP i am mostly falmiliar with html built sites... but it sounds like blogs are very seo friendly...so maybe i need to start distributing some links to my blog instead of homepage... but im really just sending everybody to my sales page, should i send everybody to my blog and put my sales page on blog or just link back to my sales page?

and still curios about articles and blogs... should i be posting on blog or page or both? because i have been making small posts and link back to my homepage, just for seo purposes

      thoughts?

Post your articles on your blog

Post a link to your sales page on your blog

Post a link to your squeeze page on your blog

Social media sites (link to your blog)
Comment on other blogs (link to your blog)

Blogs set up correctly are much more seo friendly + you can add lots of plugins that will improve conversions, experience...

For most people doing IM'ing, Wordpress is the way to go. However, if you have a simple landing page and you're well familiar with HTML & CSS, you can't beat the simplicity of having a single file dropped onto a webserver.

Google Analytics, autoresponders, forms, shopping carts, etc. can all be coded into a single .html file. Every skilled craftsman should know how to use a wide array of tools so that. The same goes for those using the website as their workshop.

I guess it depends on what your purpose is and how your business is set up, Jeff.

If your products are related, then having an Authority site as blog with links to sales pages is probably the way to go.

If not, then consider having multiple blogs... one for each niche.

Even if products are related, I recell reading where you can set up smaller secondary bogs (one for each product topic) and then liink them up ina certain way.

    Hope this helps.

Over the long term, a well run blog will bring you more traffic. most people who run blogs along side their static site, myself included, get more traffic through the blog than anything else. Part of this is over time, your blog will have a high volume of content. If you write your blog well, and post on a regular schedule, you will get a following that comes regularly to the blog. THen you can direct them on to your main site.

I'd also add that it depends onhow you're driving the traffic...

Organic traffic to the blog and targeted traffic such as affiliates or ppc should go to the landing/squeeze page.
