Can anyone point me to a good source of information (forum post, blog post, anything) about the ins and outs of RSS feeds, and how to use them? I've done very little with RSS so far and there's a lot about it I'm not clear on - like, can you make an RSS feed out of each individual article on a site or blog? And what's feed merging or mixing? Any info/advice appreciated!

I bought Mark's WSO before I became a War Room member and highly recommend it to any marketer looking to beef up his or her understanding of RSS feeds/how they work/how to use them. Mark presents the material in a straightforward manner and it's easy to understand. It comes with a PDF guide and videos.

Better get up-to-speed on RSS, because the next evolution of RSS has already sprouted legs: real time RSS (google for more links). There are a few different competing protocols and implementations, but it's important to note that WordPress has rolled theirs out (seems like there are a lot of WP users on the WF).

This is a pretty complex subject, but i try to keep it simple and short.

All you need and might want can be done in Wordpress.

RSS is (in VERY simple speak) like a standard to "send out" and to receive content, a part of what makes Web2.0 so interesting and interactive. It makes it possible to display dynamic content from site B on site A.

Now, with Wordpress you dont have to worry about too much since WP already has all this built in:

Each wordpress blog (and other similar systems) provide a RSS feed where each of your posts, your content, is automatically also accessible as RSS feed for distribution to the outside.

But it works also the other way around, eg. you can simple put other RSS feeds on your blog and display them - or even better, with the use of certain WP plugins (like feedwordpress) turn external RSS feeds into actual blog content which will appear on your blog.

I myself had a time where i didnt give RSS too much thought, but with wordpress and especially with what's called "autoblogging" it can become very powerful. I also programmed some scripts (some i sell even which deal with RSS in various ways, eg one uses the Google Trends RSS feeds which always show whats "hot" on Google.

Also in terms of distributing content RSS is interesting, eg. you can submit your blog's RSS feed to many places...get more traffic and backlinks.
