I am a successful affiliate marketer...& doing fairly good in affiliate marketing...Now I want to sell websites on ebay & other sites...
I have chosen niche & my site is ready but as I have no direct selling experience I have some questions
1) I have seen many people who are selling websites also provide hosting for an year & they charge extra between $70 to $100 per year...I have noticed they host sites on "theplanet.com" or "godaddy.com" etc. but claims to host sites on their own servers
WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO? HOW THEY HOST SITES? DO THEY BUY DEDICATED SERVERS FROM THESE HOSTING COMPANIES & HOST SOLD SITES ON THEIR DEDICATED SERVER?
2) Can you recommend me good ebook or online course on how to sell on ebay?
Please help

I use resellerzoom.com shared hosting which cost $5.95 per month. You can put up to twenty domains on that account. When I sell site I just give buyer full access to that domain hosting account (ftp, cpanel).

Selling websites is easy and doesn't cost a lot of money to get started. I've seen sites selling on ebay for cheap but require to keep hosting with them.

What they are doing is requiring you to open a hosting account through their affiliate link and keep it at least for a couple of months.

The reason is web hosting commissions are like $100 or more and all they have to do is stay on for a couple of months.

So if they sell the site for $10, they get $100 from commission, and if the new site owner leaves and signs up for another hosting, the old webhosting company loses money.

Some actually do provide hosting through a reseller account, but it's a hassle and my guess is not too many really do that.

The best place to sell sites is on flippa .. hate the fees .. but there are lots of buyers there so chances are good that you can sell sites there.

I don't sell on Ebay. I use Flippa to sell my sites and I don't offer hosting. I really don't want to be bothered with hosting people's sites. I offer free transfer to their host.

I think that in order to be fair to your buyer, you need to spring for a reseller account if you want to offer hosting. That way you can control each site so if one of your customers starts to use up the bandwidth or something, it does not affect all of your customers.

I don't really want to be bothered hosting peoples sites either, but I did just start offering free hosting for a year because most of my buyers are brand new and getting a hosting setup seemed like it was such a hassle for them.

This way they have a whole year to get their "sea legs" and get their own hosting account. I set it up via paypal subscription - free for one year and then $4.99 a month after that. I host on a hostgator reseller account that I have specifically for customers (none of my own personal sites are on there).

I'm not really planning to make any money off of the hosting, and, in fact I prefer that they get their own hosting, but it seemed like some of my buyers were so overwhelmed that thinking about hosting was just too much! This way I can take some of the strain off until they get more used to all this IM stuff.

I've never tried selling on ebay but do pretty good on Flippa. I would think eBay would be hard to sell on and you would only get very low prices, but someone with actual experience selling there might prove me wrong.

Usually they will email you with a link to a page that has their aff link. I bought one and it required me to do just that, then I had to send them the login info for the hosting because they setup the site for me.

Also, another trick they use is that they won't send you the website files, they require that they setup the site after you signup for hosting.

Good luck with this. All of my friends who were selling websites like this had to get out of it because there are so many amateur newbies getting into it that the prices aren't worth it anymore. There are probably ten times as many people doing this now as there were just two years ago.

Seems like almost everyone who wants to make money online gravitates straight toward selling websites these days.

I would recommend using Flippa over ebay! As far as hosting offer it for free for 30 days and if they want to continue using your hosting services charge them a nominal fee. You can always upgrade your own server account to accomodate the increase in websites you are hosting. If you want to set up a new hosting account for the website and not deal with your own hosting account charge them a set up fee to do this.
