To allow comments or not???

Hi guys,

Is it important to allow commenting on your blog, or does it depend on what you want your blog to be...eg...either just informative or you an to create a community atmosphere?

If commenting is important, should my blog be DoFollow or NoFollow?

Well do-follow is good. but do-follow in comments? No way, too many spammers out there. Sharing the love with Comment is great, but it brings the same problems as do-following..

Like you said, it can depend on what you want your blog to do and what market it is in.

One good thing about comments is that if you get them it can attract more people. But if no one posts a comment, some people may think it's a dead blog.

If your content is meant to just be read and not talked about, or if you don't care if people comment, then maybe turn it commenting off.

At first to see if you get a lot of spammers or not, try do-follow. This way it might help to bring more visitors to your blog (more comments = more community). You can always turn comments off later or maybe install a spam plugin.

  • Allowing comments in blogs is good. Still you need to give out some benefits to your visitors.

    - Assure that the contents are good enough so that you can get authentic comments.
    - Make comments do-follow. This will help webmasters to visit your blog regularly.

Giving out comments also encourage other visitors to get into conversation and this is how your blog promotes.

PS: You will get huge number of spams as well but its big deal to work out.
