Youtube Video Rip Off

Crazy question here...If I want to take a video that is going viral on Youtube and rip it off and put it on my account so I can advertise a website at the bottom, are there any copyright issues I might have to deal with?

I am not trying to download a professional video or anything. It is just a stupid 15 second video that a lot of people will watch today.

You may want to read Youtube's terms:

Im pretty sure that will be against the terms, it kinda like saying, coke done a 15 second commercial and I wanna make it 17 seconds with my logo in it. It's illegal to rip of coke because its there stuff, same as any youtube video, it belongs to the owner.

That does not make it right.

Besides are you the one that would want to be made an example of if they came after you? Likely wont happen but you always have to think of the implications using the sheeple mentality of "it must be ok other people are doing it".

I heard from somewhere that if that particular video you are 'stealing' does not promote anything of their own, then it is ok. Never really tried it though..Sounds too Bluefart or my liking..

Why don't you just embed it to a site and promote it that way? Or just post it to VideoForward.com

It doesn't matter if it's Fox News or some unknown guy that made it. It's still copyright infringement. Also doesn't really matter how many people steal videos. If the owner complains to YouTube, it will be taken down.
