Is it just me or is gmail really screwing up lately?

Hey guys,

So for about the past week gmail keeps screwing up bad. The chat only works 50% of the time and whenever I try and send an email it usually hangs for ages and then gives me an error. I have to log out and log in again to get it to work.

Then sometimes it just disconnects itself.

Am I the only one having this problem??

Gmail works fine for me.. However, it's Yahoo Search that keeps on giving me a bad day when I do some little searches..

I've seen what you are talking about. Lately, when I send an email it won't send and I'll have to resend and then I see it sent twice. I also feel like I'm not getting all my emails. Hopefully it fixes itself soon, it is quite annoying.

To be completely honest I do not use the Gmail chat feature, but I have not had any problems sending an e-mail.

It seems to be sending and working fine for me.

Interesting, I've just moved all my emails to a dedicated google mail address because I was having issues with my ISP and getting the emails.

Google mail works fine. ISP doesn't. Gmail account receives 100 or more emails a day from the accounts I have listed there. My isp account direct to my computer gets like 4 if I'm lucky!

So to answer your question, google mail is working fine here.

  • Hmm interesting. It's strange that it has been working fine for years and now it's having problems.

I also use the basic html version to check mails.

When you simply want to login check and reply to emails it can get very annoying.

I love Gmail. It takes getting used to, but the spam filters are great and so are many of the features.

The Gmail chat feature on the other hand makes me want to puke - for want of a better word.

Even though I have never used it (and never will). When I used to log in, this stupid feature used to try and load, at the same time, causing havoc with my loading access. Most times I was denied access and then was forced to use the basic (or whatever it is called) log in. This gets you in, but gives limited functionality.

I upgraded my broadband service to a faster service. Not because of Gmail, by the way! Guess what - I don't get the loading problems any more. Everything works perfectly.

To continue my rant. I dread to think of the bandwidth that this chat feature must be using. I pity those users who use Gmail via a dial up connection. If indeed they can use it effectively.

Gmail is my email provider of choice, but if I want to orally contact people then I use Skype or the telephone!

To the OP - Tristan - one suggestion, try checking your Internet connection to see if it has reduced in capacity. This can happen if you are using a land line and many more users sign up for a broadband service who are situated between you and your local telephone exchange.

      Just my thoughts,

      Jeff Henshaw.

Gmail seems to be working fine for me with sending and receiving email.

However, I've noticed that emails that I've filed away and archived seem to disappear after some time, which concerns me. I've gone through the settings and I can't see anywhere where I can adjust for this problem. Has anyone else lost email archives?

From what i hear Gmail has been updating like crazy to fight spam. Even has a SMS verification now, which activates every now and again. I think it will be some time for them to fix the bugs they have due to all the anti-spam updates.
