Recurring Residual Income - Correct term ?

Hi Warriors,

I just want to know whether the term Recurring Residual Income is grammatically correct?

According to dictionaries, Residual means "a payment that is made to a performer or writer or director of a television show or commercial that is paid for every repeat showing".

(I have underlined the term 'every repeat')

So 'Residual Income' means 'Repeat Income' or 'Recurring income' ? If so, not to add the word Recurring before the phrase 'Residual income'?

Hope warriors can clear my doubt

Have a nice day,
Ali.

I am not a dictionary but to my english speaking mind.

    Recurring Income
    Residual income

    Are the same thing.
No need to use both of them.

or....Passive Income - Income that requires little to no effort.

Most everything requires effort, but for instance, you have a website and you work for a two months to get it ready to go and it starts earning 2k a month in automatic, digital sales/adsense and continues to do so for a year. The last ten months of the year would be earning passive income because you spent zero time maintaining your website.

You don't need both "recurring" and "residual".

Personally, I use "recurring" because it means something to the ordinary man in the street, whereas "residual" doesn't.

        And that's what matters, right?

        Cheers,

        Neil

Using recurring and residual is redundant, just go with one of them. I agree that recurring is better because you won't need to explain what residual means.

My interpretation of Residual Income from an IM perspective is for example your own adsense or review website, you get paid if someone clicks on an ad or buys a product you recommend.

My interpretation of Recurring Income from an IM perspective is your own paid membership site, you are guaranteed of being paid on a recurring basis, for example each week or each month, as long as the site has paying members.

However to avoid confusion for those that do not have English as there first language, you're probably better off using one word or the other but not both in the same written phrase.

      Hi warriors,

      Thanks for your feedback.

      Recurring Income
      Residual income
Are the same thing. No need to use both of them.
      Thank you MJ

      Very good point, Neil.

using one word or the other but not both in the same written phrase.
Thank you Gary and others, I really appreciate your posts.

Actually, I was looking for a good domain name for my new Membership Website. I prepared a list of 10 suitable domains and planning to register RecurringResidualIncome.com. But as per Warriors valuable suggestions, I dropped this domain for my project and registered
RecurringInternetIncome.com instead. As Neil said, the word "recurring" means something to the ordinary man, whereas "residual" doesn't.

      Best Regards,
      Ali.
