WordPress affiliate rule!

Hi there

I have set up a WordPress blog with my own domain and hostgator to host.

I have read a few posts here where they say that WP will take down your blog if you have any affiliate links on the blog?

Does this count if you host it yourself and have your own domain?

Thanks again

Tyson

@tyson4: If you host your own blog at hostgator, WP cannot take down your blog even if they want to That said, you are bound by any content policies that hostgator may have (for instance, no adult/illegal content sort of thing) - as far as I can see, affiliate links should not be a problem at all.

    Good luck!

Wordpress can only delete a blog that you have setup at their site.

Having your own wordpress installed on your own hosting account, they cannot take that down.

Tyson, what other people have been referring to is the wordpress.com blogs. Not the blog that's hosted on your own domain, so you don't have to worry.

    No fear, Tyson.
Since your blog is hosted by yourself all links are allowed.
Of course, check your host`s TOS regarding appropriate content.
But you shouldn`t have any problems since HG allows majority of "mainstream" content.
