This is probably an easy question to answer:

If I get a hosting account and new domain, I'll have a Home page, an Opt-In page and a blog after installing Wordpress.

If I then write articles, what do I point to...the Opt-In page, the Home page or the Blog?

Or should the Opt-In be part of the Blog or Home Page?

I'd have to figure out how the Blog would be different than the Home Page too at some point. Maybe the Blog is the "real" Home page.

I think about this stuff and end up going round and round and round!

Thanks!

When you say homepage, do you mean a sales page for the product you're selling?

A blog is a online journal, you need to update it regularly, you can include the optin form on your blog.

I think it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. For example, I use my homepage as a squeezepage to get people on my list, and then I update my blog regularly and send a newsletter to to my list, telling them about the new posts I've added to my blog. If that's what you're looking to do, it works like a charm in getting people back to look at your products on a regular basis.

      DPSikes,

I think you answered my question. I was trying to figure out where I should have people OPT-In from...from the Home page or the Blog. If you write articles, where do you direct their traffic to...your Home page or your blog?

      Thanks,

When you get traffic what do you want them to do?

Read your articles? Read your posts? Opt-in to a newsletter? Buy something? Follow you on Twitter? Click on Adsense ads?...

Once you know the answer to that you will know what type of page to put up.

Always try and send the majority of your traffic to your squeeze page.

That's what I've heard. I figure all articles will drive traffic to my Home page which will be the Opt In page too. The blog can also have an Opt-In, as Michelle mentioned here too. No reason both places can't have an Opt-In, right?

Andy, if you place the opt in form on the sidebar it will show on EVERY page, whether it's your home page or a post.

You can also place it somewhere on your home page too - that's what I've done on a couple of my websites.

The more opportunities they have to give you their details the better I say! :-)
