Hi all

I don't know why but I have this site completed by my graphice team but everytime I upload it to my XSite pro software (I use this as my html editor) the site shows up messy on the browser live.

I just want it to come ou when published the same way as given to me by my graphics team, but this is obviously not the case. Its frustrating because my plan was to start marketing it straight after graphics team have completed their end of job.

I have tried both importing the hml file, cutting and pasting the source code but still same problem.

Damn Xsite pro has let me down here. I thought this would be simple case of just uploading the file into Xsite.

Why is this happening. Any help would be much appreciated.

xsite pro does not import html files to good, i had the exact same problem and had to get a real html editor like dreamweaver or nvu for templates and importing... i have heard of ways to fix xsite pro so it will work, but its good to know dreamweaver or another real html editor

What is it you actually need XSite Pro to do - you said the site was "completed" by your graphics team?

If you need to edit it couldn't you just use a text editor like Notepad ++ or PS Pad? And if you need to upload it can't you just use FileZilla or Win SCP?

Sorry, I'd like to help but I don't fully understand the problem.

    Hi,

I have never used XSP, but have had to modify templates that people have created with it. It uses it's own set up for HTML tags and style sheets, which can end up being messy.

Is the site you are importing created in XSP? That may be your problem.

    Thanks,

    John

      Hi,

It's more than likely to do with CSS classes in the html that haven't been imported in a stylesheet. Either that or you simply need to learn how to use xsitepro, and then set up a template to import/paste the html into, while also removing any bits of html that aren't compatible.

There's no point trying to use a html editor that you don't know how to work with. If it wasn't designed in xsitepro, it probably won't look too good when it's not imported in the right manner. The reason this happens with xsitepro is because the functionality is 'dumbed down' so that it's push button easy to make sites with, for those who don't want to go through the process of learning basic html, tables/CSS in order that they can use a less dumbed down editor. It does it's job well in that regard.

It doesn't matter what editor you're using - if you're importing from one to another, you need to fully understand the import process and the tweaks that will be required based on any differences between the editors.

The easiest way out would probably be to download a free html editor. But if it has been built with CSS and if you don't know anything CSS, you might still have these type of 'messy' difficulties. If that's the case, perhaps talking to the company who created it is the answer.

When I had these problems I learnt more basic html and got aquainted with the manuals for the tools I was using. It saves a lot of time and expense in the long run.

I have actually ftp the webpages using the cuteftp which is free ftp program.

I only want to have the pages on xsite cause of Xsite pro's addiional features such as SEO and many others. The free ftp program just allows me to publish the site and no more.

If its on Xsite,I can also edit it to my liking. All I am trying to do here is have the webpages provided from my graphics team put on Xsite pro and when publishing i.e ftping the site to show up same way as given to my by the graphics team but it does not do so. Instead messy fonts and header not in place and few other problems show upwhen publishing from Xsite.

This has stalled completely my project which I should be marketing now having the site compltede by the graphics team.

        Dammmmmnnnnn

Couldn't you build a blank website in XSP the same dimensions as the site you had made, then place your graphics where they go in the header, left/right panels & footer?

If you don't know the dimensions you could ask your designer.

I found that I had the same problem. I found that it may look perfect when using Firefox, but it looks off with Explorer. I am starting to shy away from XSP because of this.

I haven't had much luck in dealing with this through the XSP support team either. Too bad because this is such a nice program to use.

Ive been using XSP for two years now. It's definitely the easiest for newbies to dabble with. I started using NVU but found XSP to be a lot better.

Now with regards to your problem, im almost certain its the compatibility issues. Much like if you open a document from MS word to another platform like Open Office. More often than not, it screws things up.

What I would suggest is for you to work with XSP from start to finish. Or conversely, do not use it if you started using any other software.

    Hope this helped.

    Hi Smak,

If you are still having issues with the graphics, send me what you have and I will install it in XSP for you.

Let me know version 1 or version 2.
