How I made my first Clickbank sale in 11 days

Hello people

I've been a member of this forum for a while now and I'm always amazed at the amount of new people coming on board trying to get started, many working hard at it for months, with zero results.

So today I'm going to share a strategy I've used (and taught others with similar success) in the past to generate sales through promoting a clickbank affilate product.

So here goes...

1. Find a product in Clickbank that's actually selling. It really doesn't matter what niche, just pick one that actually sells! When I did this, I decided to target weight loss, just to see if this strategy could really work in such a huge niche (it did). Just pick one!

2. Do some keyword research (freekeywords.wordtracker.com is a good place to start). Type in your main keywords, then pick four or five of the best ones from the top.

3. Create a Wordpress blog on your own domain (preferred) or set up a squidoo lens, with a keyword in your domain name if possible (difficult in a huge niche, but not impossible). Avoid lots of "-"s in the domain name. (I will now refer to this as your "main blog").

4. Create two free blogs at wordpress.com and one blogger blog (these are your "mini blogs").

5. Stick five articles (as blog posts), each one targeting one of your keywords on your main blog. Include a link to your affiliate product in all of these posts. If using a lens, the concept is the same.

6. Set up your home page, your about page, and of course your home page, and set up links to your affiliate product.

7. Summarise each of the main blog posts on all of your mini blogs (each one will need to be unique).

8. Post one article per day to your main blog (try to maintain this for at least 30 days to really boost your changes of profiting from this strategy). Be sure that your keywords appear in your title, your first and last paragraph, and at least once in the body. Be sure to link to your affiliate product from each post.

9. Post one article per day to Ezine Articles. Be sure to link back to your main blog from your resource box - this is important! Try to maintain this for at least 30 days (more if you really want to get good results).

10. If you don't get ONE sale in less than 30 days, then there's something seriously wrong! Check your clickbank stats to see how things are going.

Targeting the weight loss niche for me was really just to see if this strategy could actually work in such a huge niche. A sale after only 11 days was proof that I could compete in any market - with consistent effort.

A client of mine took this strategy and applied it to a scrapbooking product - her first sale was made in 10 days.

All too often I read posts in here of people who have been working at this for months with zero sales and that amazes and saddens me, and I can really understand their frustration.

Any experienced internet marketer will tell you though, that to succeed online isn't difficult as such, but it does require a lot of work. If you're prepared to put in the effort (or at least pay to have somebody else do the hard stuff for you) on a consistent basis, then you have to eventually experience positive results.

If anybody tries this and experiences good results, I'd love to hear about it.

Hopefully a lot of people who are looking to make money online will follow through on your plan.

Sure, it takes work, but it's a viable plan.

    Michelle,

I am very happy for you and I do appreciate this good information.

Just wondering how many you can sell in 30 days? Would you please report back on this technique? Or, better yet, if you can sell a bunch of them in 30 or even 60 days, create a report. We'll buy it!

By the way, do you know how many visitors you generated to your blogs? Lots of visitors is crucial to sales success.

Hi Greg and thanks for your congrats!

I'm not actually using this strategy anymore because this really was just to see if it was possible to do in the weight loss niche, back in my "earlier" days.

I've since moved on to other things including a lot of offline work too, so I have no time for this, although if you're able to automate most of it through outsourcing, it could be quite lucrative I suppose.

So as for how many you can sell in 30 days, I suppose it will all depend on the effort you put in, whether you're using any other SEO strategies (which of course you can do) and of course the effectiveness of the sales page for the product you're selling.

As for the number of visitors per day I had, I don't believe I ever exceeded 200, but what I did get were highly targeted, hence my results. In that first month, I made over $200 from my efforts and I would have done so much better if I'd continued on, but it wasn't something I wanted to do (or had time to do) at the time.

This post was really just to point out to the masses you don't have to wait months to make your first dollar online. Once you get that first dollar, your confidence builds and you can then move on to other exciting things!

    Thanks for your feedback Michael!

Chris, I'd have to go back and check out the number of hops. It was several months ago, so I couldn't tell you off hand.

Thanks for your comments, although was able to quit my job six months ago thanks to what I learned on the WF (well, from a couple of the WF members anyway!), so this is just one of the many strategies I have applied in the past that I thought I would share.

My post was really just to encourage those who are still struggling to keep at it because with consistent effort, success is possible.

See? That'll teach me for trying to be helpful when I'm tired! Yes, the of course bit was supposed to include a product review page. With a link to the affiliate product of course!

Thanks for pointing that out to me!

If you can get close to 2% with this method You now have a landing page that that converts well enough to target with PPC/PPV .

If cost per click is comparative to Profit margin...at least build a proven buyers list with it .

Yeah, Michelle, the systematic approach is clearly the best. I think most marketers have MADD (Marketing ADD) and can never follow through on something like this. I know I have fallen victim time and again to this! Kudos and congratulations on your accomplishment.

Thank Mya and exactly right. It wasn't my first attempt (my first attempt had me making $600 sales in days, but it's probably not that easy to do any more hence why I've not decided to talk about that one), but it was one of many IM strategies I've given a go over the years.

I've been in the industry for over 4 years and I've tried a LOT of different things! This was just one that worked reasonably quickly.

Uh, if you read my post correctly, you would know that this was an "experiment" I tried a while ago to see if it actually worked.

Also, I was generating enough income to replace my well-paid full time job back in June, so if that makes me a "bad example", then what makes me a good one...??? My standards must be sooo low! hehe

My post was intended to educate some newbies out there who have been struggling to make their first dollar as one (but not the one I currently use - because that'll cost you more money!) of the many ways to make money online.

Oh, and thank you to everybody else for your positive comments! I'm just trying to give a little back!

Day 1 - Bought a high quality PLR ebook, matching domain, and uploaded to host

Day 2 - Opened a sitepoint account (now flippa), verified, posted site for sale, sold in 45 mins

    Not bad huh?

Hi Troy. Yes, the mini blogs point back to the main blog but that's it. Apparently you're not supposed to be able to post affiliate links on blogger and wordpress.com sites, hence why they're pointing to your main blog.

This also creates lots of backlinks to your main blog which of course can boost it's PR.

I said "apparently" because I've heard stories of people having their blogger/wordpress.com blogs shut down. It's apparently in their TOS that you can't monetize these sites too, and at least if it's onyour own hosting account then you have control.

Your alternative is a squidoo lens, which is why I mentioned that. They work well for many people.

Not really, we had that yesterday. Unless you really want to write hundreds of articles on"How to get a dog to mount you" - just to discover that something with those results must be way off since real search volume is WAY lower than what WT says.

This is all the more reason to have your very own site and blog. Just having that peace of mind helps A LOT knowing that you don't have to ever worry about this kind of thing taking place. Not only that, but with getting your own site ranked on the first page, and keeping it there, you feel more successful, especially when you see the sites PR continuing to increase.

Exactly, and another good thing about having your own site and blog means you're able to track it's progress through your stats etc too so you can tweak what you're doing so that you can go with what works.

I realise this is an old post, but does anyone know if the OP meant you have to create 30 articles for Ezine articles and another 30 different articles for your blog? Can you use the same set of articles for both or do you in fact need 60?

    Thanks
