NOW It's Getting Fun!
work habits the last couple of months and I am starting to see the results
of those changes.
First, the changes.
1. I've reduced my work day from 14 hours to about 6 hours.
2. I've reduced the number of articles I write daily.
3. I use more paid promotion.
Okay, now for the results of these changes
1. Article clicks are actually increasing writing fewer articles. This is
probably because of all the work I have put into this over the years.
Just for sh*ts and giggles, I went to EZA to look at some of the articles
I posted years ago. Guess what? They're still getting clicks. So much for
your articles dying after they get off of page 1. As a matter of fact, I
have some articles that getting me MORE clicks now than 2 years ago.
2. My paid advertising, while profitable, gives me nowhere near the profit
margin of my articles. Of course in this case I'm trading time for dollars.
And quite honestly, I enjoy spending about 4 hours a day in the recording
studio, so I'll live with the lower net profit percentage. Heck, it's automated
marketing, so I'm not going to bitch.
3. I am getting more done because I am more rested and more relaxed. I
am able to create a product now in half the time that it used to take me.
My days aren't as crazy.
4. The only variable in my day is customer service. I still don't know from
one day to the next how that's going to go. Fortunately, I run a small
enough operation that, so far, it hasn't been anything I can't handle.
Okay, now for the important thing.
Income. Since making these changes, how has it been?
Am I making more money or less money?
Well, if you asked me in August (my first full month on my new routine) I
would have said things are amazing. I netted over $13,000 that month.
However, in September, I am probably going to finish around 10K, which
will be my worst month of the year. I don't know if this is a direct result
of doing less work or that the economy sucks or what. I will certainly
keep an eye on it.
I will make another report at the end of the year. Right now, I should have
no problem breaking last year's income figure of $122,000 and change. If
things really bottom out the last 3 months, I will have to reevaluate what
I'm doing and see where to go from there.
Like I said...NOW it's getting fun!
