I made my Ebook. Now, how to distribute the sucker (a freebie) ?

INTERNET MARKETING

Thanks to Warrior James B. Allen I'm now officially a eBook machine. I make a book in a few minutes, in any niche I want (it's the truth, it really works).

Great.....

But how to get that freebie to the prospects when I don't have a list ?

Please give me your best ideas about how to announce a free ebook for a fast distribution.

Upload it to your blog, make a link in the sidebar that says "click here for my amazing ebook"

You can also start an autoresponder, get the signups, and give them the link to the download.

Check out Brian McIlroy's excellent WSO on the subject. Great stuff...that really works.

Look at the 'Free WSO's' that go on where people just want to use their content to build lists.

  Contact some people within the niche that are selling products already. Offer to let them give away your book as a bonus when they sell theirs. Make access to your bonus only through your optin page and you'll build a nice targeted list

If it's a quality book, there's a good chance it will go viral. You can approach top resale sites and simply give it to them. You can also post it on document sites, and free ebook sites. And you can always outsource the submission work.

Free ebooks and reports are a great way to get people to stop by your blog (where the quality of your writing there will convince them that you are not only generous, with information but a super genius too!).

You can have a link on the side bar advertising your amazing free report - no email address signup required... just have at it!

Here's a unique way to get signups using this kind of system:

- Give away your ebook without even collecting emails in exchange. (this can be done with a forum signature like - "Free Report - PPC Super Secrets - No Signup, just grab it!" or as mentioned above, an advert on your blog sidebar.

- on the download page you would include a signup box with words to this effect: "Due to a huge demand, I'm working on 2 more PPC follow up reports, if you would like to receive these in your inbox (when completed), please sign up for my mailing list below". Of course, this is an optional signup - the download link to the original report should be easily accessed without intrusion, but you'll be surprised at how many people will jump in. These signups may even be of a better quality, since they'll appreciate that you're not forcing them to signup before handing over the goods.

- Just be sure to follow up on your promise to deliver the next reports too.

Some will not be usable as the book is compiled using Ezine Articles where I can't claim ownership. Anyhow, great ideas.

Great tips in this thread. My only question would be, what are the odds this e-book made from ezine articles will go viral? If couldn't bring myself to read one of those articles much less a whole book of them.

  Pretty detailed post because I did this myself with my one ebook that still continues to get downloaded like mad.
  
  If your ebook is of quality and you do not mind who gets their hands on it here is how to give it out.
  
  First some tips that might help...
  
  1. Create an opt in page and include the link within the ebook. When people read it they will opt in if they want to hear more from you. This really gets you some targeted and interested people on your list.
  
  2. Don't litter you ebook with to many programs or affiliate links. Keep it targeted and at most I seem to get the best results with 2 to 3 paid programs and a few free with an OTO or upgrade option.
  
  Promoting your ebook:
  
  1. Torrent files can work very well for spreading the word fast. While there are hundreds of them mostly all of my success is owed to one major torrent site which many others leach off of. mininova.com
  
  2. Place your book in give away events. You can find a list of give away events at: New JV Giveaway Events this guy has rocked so far about posting new contributors events.
  
  3. Add it to your blog
  
  4. Create a sales looking page but make clear note at the top this products for FREE will receive much response and give it a higher level of professionalism.

  People love giving away stuff of value This is where your sales page really comes in handy as people can send people directly to your main page to pick up their own copy.
  Twitter give aways work great however I am still trying to find a like site for twiveaway.com which is no longer taking members *sigh* Simply put you offer some prize for people to retweet a certain message. This message would be about your ebook. After a given amount of time you award that prize. This a huge viral tool and the prize your giving away should be included in the tweet.
  Add bookmarkers to your main sales page one have has come in handy for me is called... Tell-a-Friend: Word of Mouth Marketing made simple
  Add in a viral tell a friend to if you like.

  A good but dishonest way to get high distribution is to offer the book for say $20 or $50 on a site, and then upload it to free download sites.
  
  If you name it "FREE" many would think less of it.

Good post, Sean. I would add one thing to it...be sure you encourage others to give it away inside the ebook. For my free ebooks I usually post a note in the footer with something like:

"You may give this ebook away, use it as a bonus or incentive, or add it to free and paid membership sites."

That way no matter how a person gets it or where they get it from, they know they are welcome to pass it on.

Make the footer text a soft color like sea green and it really stands out against the black text on white, yet it does so without being loud and intrusive.

  What do you think of Harvey Segal or Jeff Dedrick's methods for helping ebooks go "viral" ? I think rebranding is part of the strategy in each case; Jeff Dedrick offers some tools. Haven't seen much on WF about these guys.

  You can use your ebook as a bonus for something you are selling if it relates to a product you are selling. You should also look at this site e-junkie to sell e-books. I think you would find this very useful!

If you want to get it as many people as possible, torrent sites are definitely a great way to reach out to a TON of people. Yes, there's actually a few great legal uses for these sites!

Create an effective squeeze page and give away the freebie eBook to build your list. Use multi-variate testing on your squeeze page to continually increase your conversion rate and you'll do well. Hope that helps.
