What are my options...

New here, I am a part time artist, I have developed a technique of watercolor painting called Rough Brush Watercolor The DVD and download option have had modest steady sales. Need to increase traffic and conversions. I am trying to decide where to focus my efforts. Articles? - would articles with tips on painting drive traffic? More youtube videos? I have some of those now. Also as primarily a 1 subject person (watercolor painting) would it benefit me to join the War Room?

Any Advice appreciated!

Have you tried Pay-Per-Click? I have always found (in my experience after testing) that paid traffic always seems to convert better. Your niche sounds obscure enough that competition/click costs might not be too high.

Yes, you really should join the War Room. It doesn't matter what niche you're in. There is a LOT of great stuff there like free ebooks, software, graphic templates, etc. people have posted for free. I downloaded 200 megs of graphics last night that are really going to help me because I really STINK at graphics LOL :-)

It is easily the best $37 I have ever spent.

Roy - How are people finding you now? Ramp up in those areas. For example, if you're using a signature link in artist forums, post more often wherever you get your clickthrus.

Part of your problem is your site. It seems your site is hosted by Googlesites, using one of their templates. You've got no meta tags; none of your images are optimized for search, and you don't have enough copy overall for the search engines to rank you for anything other than your domain name.

Which means - from a search engine perspective - it sucks to be you.

For example, if I search on "watercolor techniques" where are you? Yet the sites on the first page of Google carry only @ 4 PR. Just simply optimizing your content would get you some decent ranking in that crowd, and therefore some organic traffic.

I'd recommend moving your site to a proper hosting platform, where you can control the backend code properly. Also add Google Analytics (free) so you can see exactly where your traffic is coming from and what keywords they're using to get there. This is fundamental, crucial stuff, and will save you enormous amounts of lost revenue and frustration in the long run. You'll also gain the advantage of ultimately getting free traffic from the search engines.

Also, when you create your content and think about driving traffic, consider who you're trying to attract - visual medium artists - and develop the kind of content that would attract that kind of prospect (visual content).

These tend to be "see-and-do" people. So, for example, short "how-to" technique videos, 2 -3 minutes in length, would probably get you a lot of bang for your buck, especially if you optimized the videos for search.

Articles would be helpful for the more theory-based stuff, but again, remember, visual medium artists like to get a "hands-on" experience. So if you use articles, maximize the impact by including a link to a video on your web site that demonstrates the content of the article.

The War Room certainly contains lots of valuable stuff that you'll find helpful, but it's easy to become overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information.

Best way to use the War Room is to first create your plan of action, and then search the War Room for appropriate resources related to each step of your plan.

For example, if you know nothing about setting up a site on a proper hosting service, begin there. Or, if you have no idea how to go about optimizing your web site and site content for search engines, look for infromation and resources related to SEO.

Take it one step at a time, execute that step, and move on to the next step of your plan.

Sort of like painting a picture. First you stretch the canvas on the frame. Then you get your palette ready. Then you choose your brushes. Then you decide which color you're going to use first... and so on.

        Hope this helps.

All of those methods are worth testing. BUT - I would focus on getting the visitors e-mail address when they first hit your page. Then focus on providing them value before going in for the kill.

Hello! I have a few question for you:

    1) Do you have a well enough product to possible sell in Clickbank and have other Affiliates selling your product?

    2) Are you capturing visitors to your website for future customers?

The second one is VERY important! Possibly you can send out weekly painting tip videos to those that "opt-in" to your list. That way you can try selling to them more than just once and possibly raise your conversion ratio.

    Good luck!

I would suggest you try contacting local arts societies. For example Ledbury Art Society is my local one. I have no connection with them - although I know some of the members.

Each year they have a programme of talks and outings. Usually, at their annual AGM they show a DVD about painting techniques.

There must be 100s of similar societies in the UK alone.

If you have a new technique I would think this would be something that societies would be interested in hosting a talk on.

Sort out your site. Get your own hosting and make a much more interesting site. Tell me who you are, how you invented the technique. Drop examples of your paintings liberally amongst the text. Make me WANT to paint like you using your technique.

Then sort out some keywords you want to target and build in some seo around those.

As Fredjr says - get an autoresponder and build a list. Offer them hints and tips. Maybe run a summer painting day just for members of your list?
