Default 3 Ways To Know If Your Blog Sucks - And What To Do About It...

Warriors,

It's 5:21 am here in Toronto, Canada. For those of you wondering whether or not I'm starting or ending my day - let's just say that my eyes are starting to burn a little...

Alright - let's get down to business.

I've built hundreds of Wordpress sites over the last 2 years - everything from guru product launches to law firms. I am not a graphic designer, a computer programmer or some sort of internet prodigy.

I'm just a normal dude.

Along my journey I've started to notice some trends with regards to why certain blogs succeed while 80% of them never go beyond a failed idea. Everywhere I look people are asking for guidance and everywhere else I look blogs are going down the toilet.

I'd like to share what I've boiled down to be the top 3 reasons why your blog sucks - and a few things you can do about it. If you're offended by the fact that I said your blog sucks - then it probably does.

REASON #1 - You spend too much time reading other blogs.

Let's face it - blogging is awesome and reading blogs is extremely entertaining. But if you're spending more time reading and commenting on other blogs than you are developing and maintaining your own blog, you're selling yourself short.

A successful blog must be cared for. You have to take the time to keep it updated regularly with content that is ahead of the curve. Don't be a follower, but rather command the respect of those around you. Be yourself and your word will never be questioned. Limit the time you spend on other blogs and you will notice an immediate increase in your own efforts.

REASON #2 - You spend too much time worrying about Google.

It's true: Google is directly responsible for feeding over 80% of the global internet search market. Google is the king ****. As a blog owner, this means that having a Google-compatible blog is extremely important - but this does not mean that they are the be all and end all of blog success.

Stop worrying about sandboxes and page rank and start paying attention to the person who is reading your blog. They are the reason why your opinion matters and the reason why you hit publish. Your influence on the lives of your readers is what determines success. Google will follow.

REASON #3 - You have no community.

Blogs and forums are social. Running a socially driven site requires the fuel of a self-propelled community. Without community your blog will continue perish. Sure, "success" is determined differently by each individual, but the constant will always remain that community is the blood of great blogging.

Give people a reason to participate. Ask them questions, give them answers and actually give a **** about what they are up to online. Give credit where credit is due and don't try and spread yourself too thin.

****

That's all I have to say about that.

My points are brief and by no means the bible of blogging. I just find that things get too complicated sometimes and information overload is doing more harm than good for all of you up and coming bloggers.

Think I'm full of crap? Let me know why.

Agree with some things I said? Let me know why.

Cheers,

Elijah

I think your content should be genuine and attract visitors by giving them something for free. Once they arrive to your site make them wanna stay and come again.

Is your computer running slow? So was mine, but I fixed it in a few minutes. Visit
