HostGator Reseller Set-Up Please Help

Hello all....

I'm a little confused about setting up a HostGator reseller account and I want to make sure I do it correctly. I don't intend on using it for reselling hosting. I would like to start organizing my websites using a reseller account.

If I own 20+ domains but have never been hosted...and purchased through godaddy.

Would I?

1. set up an account(package) for each website or
2. have 1 package like: CPA websites and just add-on domains

Everyone's opinion matters.....please let me know what would be best..

Thanks
Bill

I have a reseller account which I also use to host my own twenty odd sites.
I prefer to use a seperate control panel through each and actually make a separate package for them all when I am setting up the account. However that is a personal quirk if they are all using the same bandwidth etc it is enough just to use one standard reseller package.
    Hope this helps Catherine

I also create individual accounts for each domain. I like having a separate Cpanel for each sites.

I do find that my sites fall into a couple of different categories, and I ended up creating a package for each category. It adds an extra level of organization but it hasn't made much of a difference in how I run things. ;-)

Truth be told, all would be fine if I hadn't created the different packages.

The most important thing is to just do it! LOL

You should have 1 domain name as your primary domain. When you register to HostGator, you will be asked for this. After that, you can manage your hosting through this main domain name -> yourprimarydomain.com/cpanel

Change all your primary and secondary DNS name to HostGator DNS server name. Done.

You can still manage all your domain name through GoDaddy.

    Hope this will help.

Set up a separate account for each domain. That is the best feature of reseller hosting. Each site gets it's own cpanel. Great for flipping sites too, since you can give the buyer cpanel access right away to move the site.

@willz605 If you don't intend on reselling then the BABY plan or BUSINESS plan will suffice as they both offer unlimited domains.

I have been on the BUSINESS plan for nearly a year and am very satisfied with it. I even set up an affiliate account in a friends name to get an effective "cashback", so I recommend you do that also if you can, you will get $50 back, and they can cash in from that one sale no need to sell any more.

To all that have replied so far....you're all very kind and extremely helpful....

It amazes me how people on this forum help each other....I hope to return the favor soon!

I like the separate account for each...especially for the flipping idea and separate Cpanel

    Suzanne.....Do you Flip Domains too?
