Just saw this quote on a blog... True or false

People are selfish, lazy, want instant gratification, are never happy, want everything free, and are hypocrites (everything should be free but people should buy my product).
Lets start a debate on this and see where it leads us too

Without the context of the complete blog post over at SEO book , it's not really debate worthy... imho.

I agree with the points made, though. (edit: Umm.... the points made in the blog, by Aaron)

I would agree with the "instant gratification", which I think is getting worse every year. If a person doesn't get what they want, make money, lose weight, or any other goal they have, within a week or two - ZIP, off they go to chase the next shiny that promises instant results.

...and that next shiny thing couldn't be delivered YESTERDAY...so they're opening up 7 more browser windows (heck, even using 3 different browsers to do that)...to keep looking for the shiny...

        Then the phone rings...

Its a general comment made on most froums including this one about every aspect of IM...

I saw an example of the "want instant gratification" mode the other day when I stopped for gas.

As I waited in line to pay for my fuel, a fellow came in, selected a burrito from the cooler and put it into the microwave. Hit the Start button and spent the next 90 seconds dancing from foot to foot chanting "come on, come on"...

Unfortunately, that's me in a nutshell. I want to sell but I'm tired of being burned when I buy. It's just same ol', same ol', and I'm out 30 to 50 bucks. I actually demanded my money back from one online marketer, and to give him credit, it was back in my Pay Pal within a few hours.

It's a very limited perspective and obviously targeted at the desperate beginners who haven't reached the point of taking their business seriously and actually thinking about more than just how to squeeze money out of 'prospects'.

There are a lot of people around in IM and how they behave and the things they say changes as they go along their journey of learning what running an online business is all about.

Also if you have a limited and negative view of IM and you want support -there will always be others happy to join you to moan about the downsides.

At least when it comes to earning an income online, people seem to jump from opportunity to opportunity. They don´t give enough time to see if it really works or not.So, for instant gratification I agree what you say.

That's why I prefer the B2B route over the B2C route. There's a much better chance of doing business with people who have their heads screwed on straight.

[People are selfish, lazy, want instant gratification, are never happy, want everything free, and are hypocrites...]

    50+ in age.....not at all...(very few anyways)
    25-50.....about a 40-60 split
    18-25.....about a 70-30 split
    1-18....without a doubt, hands down, as a general rule...YES

The youth of today have no concept of hard work or the value of a dollar...everything is expected to be handed to them...the hardest thing they do most days is work up a sweat playing world of warcraft...
Naturally there are exceptions but they are far & few between...
Computers made most guilty of this I believe...

This is my own personal observation...no office stats, just seeing the world around me first hand...

Point well stated. I agree with this one.
And obviously it will escalate with time.

Just imagine how it will be when the current 1 - 18 bracket get to the 50+ bracket.

People are selfish, lazy, want instant gratification, are never happy,
That's why IM can be soooo lucrative.

I'd choose to focus on these before discussing everything else. Besides, when mastering those ideas above your online income can go through the roof.

I completely disagree. There are some people who are like
that. And those are people who are broke, and haven't
    yet woke up to life.

And there are many people who are success minded who
know it takes work, dedication, love, etc... to succeed in
    anything.

I run into type B people more than type A honestly.

That's like saying people are FAT.

Yes there are some fat people, but not everybody.

      Hi,
For the most part the fact is we have become an instant gratification loving people in north america. we are spoiled brats. we throw more food out then some people ever get to eat in a year or ever. this is why fast food joints have remained. this is why places like the video ordering place online exists people want things that make their life easier isn't this the whole concept in IM as well create a product people want that will solve their "issue" so we all recognize the reality of this so Robert why is it a debate?

The fact is even those in IM rip other people's stuff apart put it into a nice little package and sell it as their own. that is lazy -taking the short cuts etc.and there are even courses how to legally steal etc. so it is shady too.

People do love free stuff even in here people rave about the fact in the war room you can get a ton of freebies. this is why people go to giveaways and download a ton of stuff they don't really want need or use but simply because it is free. giving products away to drive them to our list is feeding this mentality so it is not surprising that others see this.
I like what Jeff Dedrick says about giving things away . if people don't trust you they won't buy from you so if you have a great product your not losing anything by giving it away. you give something of value and they will stay with you. this is one fellow i pattern my business after without doing all the oto and backend sales he is expert at doing as for being hypocritical. i would have to agree i notice it even in this forum one day a person says this and another they say that. here is the definition of integrity-when your all alone your the same as when in front of 10,000 people. your of solid character. This is what should be practiced by all not some and the way we base our sales letters using"triggers" etc is also being a seeker of instant gratification if they buy we get paid. so i am confused ...how is this a debate? i think more to the point is we should look at how we conduct ourselves in public with our colleagues and our customers it's a little hard to debate something IMers use and do and demonstrate on a daily basis.
we truly are a spoiled people.

Robert, it's like everything else in the world.

Some people are like that and some people aren't.

I am not like that. I work very hard (well, used to anyway) and never
expected things to just happen. It took me years to develop a really
successful business. Today, I do relax a lot, but I did pay my dues. And now,
I'm finding that I'm getting bored not working so much so I plan to go back
to some long hours. I enjoy it.

So no, not everybody is like that.

Are some? Sure...just like in every other aspect of life.
