Default How Important is the Content of the Site Linking to you?

I know page rank and anchor text very well but how important is the site linking in, in terms of Context/category of the site. for example I have a sports website for handicapping picks. How important is the site linking in in terms of being gambling or sports website as opposed to a random blog with a high PR? I understand I would get more clicks from a sports website than a non-sports website.

Do I get less credit from a non-sports website even if it has decent page rank?

Do follow blog comments raise spam eye to the SE's?
