Howdy fellow warriors.

Hoping my title made you go "huh?" and got your click. There's a lesson there many of you already know

I haven't been posting in a while.. a very long while. I recently returned just to see what's going on in the marketing world. A lot of fantastic posts!

I am posting mostly because I know there are always a lot of new folks around here that are looking for the magic wand that turns their computer into a giant money tree and thought that now after so much time, I can offer a tad bit of advice.

Firstly, and raise your hands if you agree, persistence is the real key to this business. Seriously, if you aren't persistent in this endeavor, you will not make it.

I read once that "Failure is the key to success". This has definitely been my take on Internet Marketing. I started studying this stuff 3-4 years ago. I kept building sites, writing articles, creating backlinks, buying products, building more sites, etc.

Every time I turned around, I was trying something "new and better". It wasn't until I really FOCUSED and did ONE thing before I started earning money.

I launched a website on July 4, 2008 (spent about 3 weeks building it), and had my first sale that day. I was ecstatic! While 26.00 is really NOTHING, I guarantee you that you will feel like you just won the World Poker Tour or something. Any old pros disagree? You remember your first sale? Tell these guys about it. It is crazy how it makes you feel.

That website quickly grew to a $1300-2000/month site. It still is.

I built another that turned into a 200-300/month site.

I used a lot of this month to live on because I needed it. But, I started saving and soon I had money to invest in PPC.

I quickly lost about 700.00 on PPC. Scarey right? That was almost 1/2 my budget. But, did I give up? Your darn right I didn't. Persistence.

I found another product. I created another site. I started promoting. I found myself making 200-300%/day profit.

I created another site. I found keywords. I started promoting with PPC on that one. Again, I tweaked and got it to 200-300%. I can't take full credit. I owe my business partner who I helped get started in the business a lot of credit.

Now, with what started as a free investment a year ago, produces about 15/k month. Crazy right? Not in the least. My goals are set so much higher that I view it as a little pebble of a stepping stone.

I read in a post that 10k/month is NOTHING. That's absolutely right.

With all this being said, here is my advice:

*Be persistent. - Don't give up. Don't let the voice in the back of your head telling you this is CRAP stop your 1 million+ per year business. (Also, don't kill anyone. Ignore that voice too)

*Be a student. - Learn all that you can. Don't re-invent the wheel. Success can be modeled by success. If it's working for someone else, it CAN work for you.

*Set Goals. - Seriously. Have you read this? Have you done it? Not setting goals is like driving without a map. You'll get somewhere. But, it won't be where you want to be unless you get lucky. But, if you want to gamble, go to Vegas. Don't gamble with your IM Business. Set you goals. Write them down. Tape them to your wall. Create a wallpaper on your computer. Do something where you look at them every day and take a step toward them every day.

*Last, but most important than anything else: Take some friggen action!! You want to know the worst way to make money? Sit here reading this screen all day wondering how to make money. Buy more products about how to do internet marketing - THEY LOVE YOU FOR IT! - But, if you want to make money, you need to get off your *** and start doing something.

Think about this: When you need groceries, you set a goal - (ie. I'm going to go to the grocery store and buy groceries) - You get in your car. What happens if you don't start the engine? Nothing. After the engine is started, you have to put it in gear. If you don't, you sit there with the engine running right? You're going to starve! Get that car started, get it in gear, and slam on the gas if you want to succeed. Find a product, do your keyword research, build site, and drive traffic to it.

Are you on your way to the grocery store still sitting in the driveway?

Sorry this is so long. Didn't intend it to be.

Great Post James and so true!

    Persistence & Momentum are KEY!

To add to your post, I believe Momentum is also key to really generating some huge numbers. I have been lucky enough to have had some awesome days in IM, the days you wake up and you made a lot of money overnight. Also, earning more in the first week of the month than I have ever earned in any past job in a full month!

I could have quite easily sat back and took the foot off the gas but haven't and will never do it, why? Because momentum is key to earning more. Be persistent, get the wheels working, then keep them oiled, keep moving on and up! That is my advice and what works for me!

Great post James, Awesome Stuff and SO TRUE!

Wow totally loved your post. Obviously I'm a pretty new member but I hope that when I'm at the stage you're at that I can write something equally inspiring!

I've only been doing this for about 2 months, but I can honestly say that only now am I really focusing on one thing and doing all I can before letting go and moving on to the next thing.

Admittedly I'm the sort of person who normally goes from one thing to the next without really 'getting in gear' as you might put it!

Tomorrow I am going to write down my goals, clean off my notice board and place it right at the centre so I can glance at it every time I sit at the computer.

Thanks for inspiring me to carry on in this mad, frustrating but ultimately rewarding business!!
