Fastest, cheapest way to get published on Amazon?

I'm in the offline niche preparing a mailing to local businesses. I'd like to get something published... anything. Just for the increased authority that comes with it.

I have little money and no time. I'm thinking createspace is the way to go? Any suggestions as far as content is concerned? I have original IM related articles.. perhaps gluing these together to reach the 25 page minimum?

The first thing that comes to my mind is Lulu.com or Lightning Source.

Go with one of those POD printers (like the ones above) which are connected with Amazon.com. Alternatively, you can use Amazon's own BookSurge POD service

Probably the quickest (free?) way is to get published on Kindle: Get Your Book Published On Kindle | The Amazon Kindle & Kindle DX Ereader

    Technically it's Amazon...

I publish with Amazon on the Kindle and with createspace. They are both relatively easy to use. If you submit your book's ISBN to Kindle then Amazon will link your digital copy with the physical copy. All reviews will show up on both.

If you are trying to get a book out there just for authority purposes and as fast as possible, I suggest Lulu.com. Lulu offers distribution through Amazon for an additional fee.

The biggest obstacle for many is doing the book cover. Lulu has an automatic cover generator, so all you need to prepare is the inside of your book. With CreateSpace and LightningSource, you need to design your own cover with Photoshop or another graphics program.

Lulu also has cheap custom book cover design available ($200 or so?).

And, the Lulu store enables you to give away your book as an ebook for free, while still charging for a printed copy. Handy if you are using your book for promotion, and not purely for profit.

If your target market is just Amazon I would go with Create Space because it's cheaper than Lulu to put your book on Amazon specifically. If you want a wider reach like BN.com etc. you might want to go with Lulu.

Maybe this is just the publishing/writer side of me speaking but it's my opinion that if you want to look authoritative you shouldn't necessarily be using the "fastest and cheapest". Your book needs to look good and be good otherwise people will write it off as self published vanity press crap and that will actually damage your reputation as an authority. As someone who was in (and to some degree still is in) publishing I may be biased but generally self publishing has very little respect unless it's done REALLY REALLY well.

Here is the easiest way I know of:

    1. Get a free account at Vervante - On Demand Publishing

    2. Upload your pdf book and cover art.

    3. Get your quote for print and fulfillment cost and your sku.

    4. Ask them to list your book on Amazon. They will also list with Boarders if you want.

That's it. Its fast and simple and no up front costs. In other words... its free to list on Amazon that way and you don't have to pay for any up front stock.

Fastest easiest way I know of...

Its almost as simple as uploading an ebook.

This is the same process you would go through to publish a physical book from your own site only you would get the product ID or sku from them for the item and plug it into your shoppingcart.

They only charge you when you sell and item and only after it is shipped and delivered (net 30) so there are no up front fees.

Additionally they only charge you the print, 1st class USPS shipping charge, and they do not take any additional % only the Amazon % that amazon charges them which I think is around 20%.

Vervante.com is a high touch, quality service much easier, simpler, and in my opinion better to work with than just about any other.

Our clients love them. We integrated them with Nanacast for ship and print for all our publishers as well because they are the only true on demand print service with no up front fees and who does not load up high additional fees.
