Google Real Time Search...

Hey I just tried out the new Google Real Time search, you can try it yourself
at the link below:

Google

It will look the the regular results above the fold but if you scroll down you'll see
a section with a scroll bar that is constantly updating; you can click the "latest
results" button and it will take up the entire page...

I can see this as a good tool for bloggers or people looking to keep up with
information in their niche as it comes out. I can also see it being a time waster
though if you're just sitting there waiting for a result to come up that you like.
Anyone see any other uses for this?

Someone made a thread about this earlier.
I personally think it's a waste from Google. Not only that, but they are going to make way for some serious spamming.

When I click on that link it doesn't show me any real time results just the normal search results. Maybe because of my location.

Click the link > Type in a keyword > Scroll towards the bottom of the page and you'll see a section that says "latest results"

    Hi Sean

I done that and nothing it just shows up as the normal google results their in no "latest results" on that page at all. Maybe it is some sort of geo targetting and they don't show these results in Oz, i dunno but I can't get them

I found that it depends what I look for... try "tiger woods" I get this annoying page with a section that actually scrolls on its own.

May not be such a big issue for niches though as hot topics would update more quickly?

Update: I did a search for "xbox 360"... wow I hate it, not even from an IM perspective but for usability. It's showing me junk from peoples tweets and yahoo answers, including the recent replies. More spam....

Guess we can all set up auto-tweets and get listed as a new topic each time. LOL

It's funny b/c I thought google whole mantra was to improve the users experience, now with all the sponsored links (sorry PPCers) and this now, I feel it's moving away from a good experience.
