Hookers, Midgets, Llama's and Firetrucks-"Offline" Marketing Warning

I'm sure after reading the thread title you were maybe at least a little bit curious as to how the 4 things mentioned have ANYTHING to do with offline marketing??

They don't, I just thought it was a kick ass title. Although if you put all 4 things together at an event, I most certainly would attend, and it would make a killer poster or web ad.

I know, shut up and get to the point.

Offline Marketing has been a passion of mine for years now, and I think that the satisfaction of helping other entrepreneur's succeed has kept me going.

As this niche progresses I am amazed at the innovation "offliners" are showing. It is very easy to get muddled down in the day-to-day aspect of one's business, and not to think out-of-the-box. Some people, if not careful are falling into the trap of being....web designers.

I won't speak for everyone, but as far as I'm concerned...I do not design websites. Yes, that is part of the "package", but you can't just leave it there. A small biz owner will beat you down if your not careful, and pretty soon once you strip away SEO, Autoresponders, promotion, video and marketing...well, you just have a basic website left and you got paid a third of what you should have, and they are stuck with an ineffective site.

In search of a quick sale it easy to fall into a trap of just building sites because you want to at least make a sale. Don't compromise your standards if you provide more.

What I mean is that if you are dealing with a customer that only wants a site design...they are most likely not your best target demographic. Now, I am not saying to NOT do the site, but certainly make it easy on yourself so that it takes you no longer than 3 - 4 hours. Show them premade templates in wordpress, modify a header with their logo, copy/paste their info and move on, but I still am not a fan of just design.

If you fall into a web design only mode...now your competition has increased dramatically. Learn to seperate yourself from the pack. Force the customer to have to think. If they compare apples to apples(web design $$ to web design $$) you probably will lose or get into a $$ war. If they have to compare apples to oranges...well now its different. You are a marketer who does web design and your services have much more value than just the average designer.

Not sure if this makes any sense to anyone but myself, but I see a lot of people falling into the trap of lowering their standards just to make a quick buck.

Remember, you will work just as hard acquiring a larger customer than a smaller one that doesn't have the $$ to pay you to make a difference.

Anyway, I just thought I would share, now I'm thinking about midgets and hookers again....going to be a long day.

lol. They certainly can spit!!! It's funny, I see alot of alpaca commercials on tv, but the poor llama's are left out. Now there is an untapped niche!!
