I am kind of 50/50 on this.. I think in some aspects it could actually help, however there are plenty of reasons from an SEO standpoint that it may hurt.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet. However, I'm certainly not going to be listing my sites for sale and starting up something new, to put it that way. Google's search philosophy is all about delivering the most relevant results to the user. That's not going to change anytime soon. So just keep giving them what they want and I think you'll be fine. If you have, say, a sex change operations site that ranks well for, um, some good keywords, it's because Google has figured that it's relevant to people who search for that stuff, and for that reason it's probably going to rank well for those keywords for quite some time.

With regards to super trendy and hot stuff.... I'm not sure. I don't really get into that, I'm more into ranking well long term for stuff that people aren't going to stop searching for anytime soon.

It COULD change how users tend to actually use search results, though. If they start scrolling down to get the real time stuff, that could possibly help them form new habits that might, for instance, help those who are not listed at the very top. After all, if more people start using the whole page and not just the first few listings like they tend to do now, that might benefit tthose who struggle to get into the top five and aren't getting anywhere near the traffic they could be getting.

All is going to boil down to the truth. The search engines try to make it more secure and less scams.

Event the FTC has change the rules on endorsements and testimonials.

The think is this SEO can be control to a certain point. But if it change all sudden then all websites will not make it if they did not build a report with there customers and take there email and market to them.

Email marketing is a billion dollar industry. You can have the best website but with no customers that trust you. Your traffic means nothing.

It comes to the truth ... The Bible say the truth shall set you Free...

So when your client or you deal with the truth than you will make money.
Business is not about the product or the traffic it is about serving people.

    Just my 2 cents

I think it will definitely affect click through rates on the first page and of course if you are just hanging on to the first page you will soon be of it.

Cool thanks man. This might be good for me as I don't do much SEO work anyways but now I could get FP with twitter or another social site!

Google should have just made a new tab for "Live" results instead of putting them directly in the search results. Most of the social media search results are crap anyway!

I've yet to find the value in social media search results.

I can see the spammers taking full advantage of it though.

I've been looking at some of the results... I think I saw someplace that google was going to filter for spam... well, they'd better get on those filters b/c that's what I am seeing a lot of.

I guess you have to rank in the top 3 to get viewed above the fold now.
