My thoughts on Google Wave

Well I don't really have many and I think that's a big problem with the way Google handled this.

When Wave was announced I was stoked. I was really just out of my head excited. I told everyone I knew about it. I signed up right away for an invite.

And then I waited, and waited, and waited.

I've now had quite a few invites for the last few weeks (I signed up with every email account imaginable and answered the sign up questions differently each time in hope of getting an invite sooner, that's how excited I was) and I haven't used my account, not once. The excitement has worn off. If I could have started back when I was really excited I would have gotten very involved in using it with all my friends, my assistant, different contractors I use, etc.

I understand the need for a beta version, but surely they could have done enough beta testing in house that they could be to the point of actually letting the public sign up when they announced it, knowing it would be a public announcement. I think they lost a lot of momentum and did not position themselves to capitalize on the excitement their announcement caused. It's like they launched a product that they weren't planning on releasing for several months and now it has been released with no fanfare and very little excitement. I know others have had access since it was announced, but I know they lost me with the way they handled it and I bet they've lost a lot more people for the same reason.
