EzineArticles and RSS Feed distribution using Incansoft's RSSBot

Hello everyone, new to the forum and to the internet marketing world, so excuse my distinct lack of knowledge.

I'm bum marketing at the moment to try and bring in enough to pay my rent in January. So far I've made around $50 in sales - I'm on my 10th day - but I'm not getting anywhere near the kind of hits that the rate of hits that the author quoted (he had around 80k after one month, I've got 5k after 10 days).

I know my copy writing skills need a lot of work - and my resource boxes probably need work to. But at the moment I'm working on getting the articles higher in the SERPs to get the traffic up. One of the ways is to submit an RSS feed to the bookmarking sites - but I have no idea what I'm doing.

Do I just submit the author feed that is automatically created? Or should I create my own feeds? Any help much appreciated, this feed business is completely new to me - tried Googleing but came up short.

I'm using Icansoft RSSBot if that makes any difference.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

I used it too to submit my author's RSS feeds - the problem is really that i dont know whether it does anything in terms of ranking/traffic. Some say it helps to rank articles better if you submit the ezine RSS feeds.

You can just submit the author feed that is automatically created.

By the way, what do you mean by 'rate of hits'?

      You spotted my deliberate mistake

I meant to say that if you extrapolate my 5k hits after 10 days then it doesn't compare to Dan Molano's 80k hits after one month, which leads me to believe that somewhere along the line I'm missing a trick. I'm trying to figure out what whether I'm choosing bad keywords or whether my titles aren't attention grabbing etc.

Has anybody done the Newbie Blueprint here?

    Paul,
Instead pf following that Bum Marketing way of doing things you should read this thread - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...eza-first.html

You should be submitting to more than just ezine articles also and you should be building up a blog of your own that points to your money sites.

As for Rss Feeds : They can give you extra traffic every month and espeacially if you are dealing with about 20 different feeds instead of one. Meaning you could take your blog rss, article directries rss, bookmarking sites rss, and submit those also.

Rss can also help with backlinks and increased rankings as many of the Rss Directories have your listing where it is searchable. You could crab up these submissions and ping them so the search engines know your rss feeds are in these directories..

James, cheers for the advice, checked out that thread and will follow this strategy as of tomorrow.

Truth be told it's a bit of a "desperate times, desperate measures" moment for me at the moment - cash in the door quick trumps overall amount of cash in the long run. With bills to pay in January and no other form of income it's balls to the walls time.

      A few quick questions:

I'm confused by the purpose of the summary blog - is that just a way of getting some extra backlinks to the main site?

Is Clipmarks the best way to bookmark?

Re. submitting the author RSS feeds from the article directories to the RSS directories - I presume this only needs to be done once and not on a recurring basis after each new article?

I'll not be able to spin the articles in good time (I'm busting out 10 - 15 articles a day after a full day's work in the job) so will have to leave that one for later on when I've got a little bit less pressure to get so many posts out the door - the same is true for the PDF creation.

Finally cheers for the advice, probably the single most useful post I've ever had. Time to get $2k in by January - nothing like a bit of pressure!

        Paul,
The 2ndary blog is designed to help build backlinks to the main site and help increase the main site. The summaries are used because you want to link to the full article on your main blog/main site.

Honestly you can install 3 or 4 blogs to do the same exact thing and even use the same exact summaries. Just use sub-domain names and they will be seen as different sites even-though they are on the same domain. No need to worry about dup content either because that is a myth, including having the same content on your own site.

Clipmarks is a great site to use for bookmarking but there are many others you should use also. Clipmarks and digg will help you get indexed within minutes.

Rss Feeds, yes they only need submitted one time.. This is why I actually submit my rss feeds manually because it is really a waste to have software do it. Besides many Rss Directories also have web 2.0 features (create groups, add friends, and etc) and joining these sites and submitting manually and participating in the sites will get you a greater advantage.

Good luck to you and I think you have a great start .. So congrats to you for taking action...

        James
