Tracking Clickbank Sales as an Affiliate With Google Analytics Goal Conversion

Has anyone done it? Care to share how it's done?

I checked out CB's integrated sales reporting feature. Integrated Sales Reporting

They don't specify there whether their listed steps are for the vendor or affiliates. It seems to me that it's for vendor, because your google analytics code won't work on the vendor's domain. My understanding is that Google Analytics code is specific for each domain.

Has any Warrior CB affiliate managed to track CB sales using Google Analytics? If not, what other means do you use to track CB sales?

Many thanks for sharing!

Analytics sucks for that. Use Prosper202 and ask the vendor if he can place your tracking pixel on his thank you page.

You CAN use Analytics, but Prosper202 is just better for this job.

    Essentially..

You need to be in touch with each vendor, and ask them to put a tiny pixel on the end page of the process...

There aren't many merchants who are cool with this, but once you start pushing a decent number of sales through the door, they often become more cool

p.s. Here is a link to prosper -> http://prosper.tracking202.com/ it is much better than what you were going with

You can track keywords by inserting a tracking ID into your link. There are programs that will do this automatically. Affiliate Radar, Xtreme Conversions etc..

I've always thought that this WOULD work for affiliates:

    1) Create a spreadsheet of EVERY site location or keyword that you are bidding on. In a new column create a numeric tracking number to correlate to that keyword. So "dog training course" might have tracking code 4132.

    2) Use Clickbank analytics to tell you which tracking codes are converting

    3) Compare to your spreadsheet using some form of automation tool, if possible, or hire someone to do this for you.

I suspect that if an affiliate wanted to run an adwords campaign on a CB product then it would be handy to simply add a tracking code in numeric format to the end of the URL, for EVERY keyword. It's the only way you will know your ROI per ad. Using numeric (or even alpha-numeric) tracking codes gives you a simple system to deal with compared to using the limitations of using the actual keyword as the tracking code.

A lot of affiliates use blogs to market affiliate products. If you get hosting you can are able to use the plugin tool on wordpress, then there is a simple google analytics plugin to use for that.

I have never had any experience tracking an actual sales page though...

I messed with Adtrackz and before that Optimize My Site. Other than that so far I haven't used anything else other than built in tracking from affiliate programs but will probably start playing with Prosper202 soon after watching the webinar.

My understanding is that Google Analytics code is specific for each domain.
I don't think that is a correct understanding. I believe that analytics tracking ID's are specific to a Google Analytics account.

If I remember correctly, I used one analytics ID on a website and a couple of Blogger blogs that were "mini-netting".

      Hope this helps.

Let's take Google Analytics out of the discussion here because you don't own the websites, hence you won't be able to track the conversion.

As an affiliate, I'm currently using ClickMeter to track my affiliate links. Like what the rest mentioned, you'll need to contact each vendor to place a conversion pixel in their checkout pages.

Here's an article I wrote recently about link tracking:

    Hope this helps!
